Home Therapies Patient Care Technician (PCT)
Home Therapies (HT) Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) at Health Systems Management support and work under the guidance of the Registered Nurse to provide dialysis treatment to multiple patients at a time. PCTs have a combination of technical skills and compassion needed to improve the quality of life for our patients while promoting positive patient outcomes. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to learn the discipline of Home Therapies Dialysis. We are currently looking for compassionate, dedicated, and highly motivated PCTs to join our Home Therapies Dialysis team. This is a split clinic position and will provide coverage for both Northside Dialysis Center and Davie Kidney Center.
Salary range is $17 - $27 per hour, depending on experience, to include various other factors.

On the job training of dialysis fundamentals provided.
PCT / CCHT Responsibilities and Physical Demands:
In the Home Training Program:
Greet Patients.
Assisting the HT RN with clinic and home visits as directed.
Reinforces Peritoneal Dialysis / Home-Hemodialysis education under supervision of qualified Home Therapies RN.
Set up of the home hemodialysis machine, PD Cycler and prepares supplies.
Collect treatment records and review for completion. Notify RN of incomplete / missing records.
Cleaning and prepping treatment room; prepare patient charts.
Prepare lab tubes, requisitions and assist with lab draw days, both pre and post draw. To include obtaining water samples as directed by the HT RN.
Assist with exit site care when directed by HT RN.
Clerical Duties as assigned (faxing, mailing, calling, scheduling, filing, assembling/breaking down patient charts, etc.)
Maintains databases, logs, spreadsheets, and software as directed by HT RN.
Assists patient with ordering supplies, reminder for upcoming clinic visits, etc. to include maintaining par levels of home-hemodialysis department supplies.
Obtain patient’s vital signs before, during, and after dialysis treatment and appropriately document the medical record.
Demonstrates knowledge of infection control as related to hand washing, personal protective equipment (PPE) and universal precautions,
Maintain patient safety and comfort, which may include assisting with personal care needs and activities of daily living.
Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
Please note you will have exposure to blood and needles.
This position requires frequent and prolonged periods of standing and bending.
You are required to acknowledge the inter-facility coverage policy that supports floating to various clinics during and after your training, if needed.
Education Requirements and Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
Basic computer knowledge required.
Healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
Continued employment is dependent on successful completion of the Health Systems Management training program in its entirety.
Our day ends when patients’ care is completed.
Must pass the Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) exam within 18 months following the first day of employment.
Must have or obtain Basic Life Support certification approved by the American Heart Association.
Must be comfortable working around blood and needles, including cannulation and collecting lab samples.
Excellent bedside manner and communication skills.
Although not required, any of the following would be nice to have: Board of Nephrology Examiners, Nursing and Technology (BONENT), Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Patient Care Assistant (PCA), or Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).

Schedule: You must have a flexible schedule and be able to work Monday – Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Hours may vary based on clinic need and/or holidays.
Training Information:
Training may take place in a facility or a different clinic other than your assigned home clinic.
Hours of work may vary during the training period; however, you will typically be working between 36-40 hours per week during training.
- On the job paid training: HSM offers new dialysis employees on the job training to help you develop your dialysis skills. The training is a combination of classroom setting and direct patient care.
- Schedule is Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm. Schedule may vary based on clinic need and/or holidays.
- Reimbursement: HSM will provide a one-time reimbursement to sit for your Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) exam.
