The department of Medicine, division of Hematology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Sr. Department Administrator, Clinical to work onsite on the UHealth campus. The Sr. Department Administrator, Clinical serves as the primary administrator in the department and as the key advisor to the other senior leadership on business matters related to activities within the department. Moreover, the incumbent manages operations, personnel, and fiscal activities for a department.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Works collaboratively with the other administrators and affiliate institutional executives in developing clinical practice strategies and programs.
Oversees the development of operating and capital budgets for the department and supports budget and contract negotiations with institutional affiliates and extramural funding sources.
Assures sound financial management by overseeing the production and distribution of all financial, accounting, and budgetary reports.
Oversees patient accounting to ensure accuracy.
Fosters a smoothly functioning, efficient, customer service-oriented organization through operational integration, anticipation of problems, timely and effective resolution of disruptions, and continuous process improvement.
Manages and administers grants, contracts, pre-award and post-award activity on sponsored research.
Provides expertise and guidance in interpreting and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and standards of accrediting agencies.
Develops human resource plans and policies, and recruits, develops, and maintains the staff necessary to support the department.
Analyzes staffing, financing, operations, policies, systems, and procedures to ensure an efficient and effective operation and to adapt to internal and external change.
Develops business plans for proposed programs and services.
Supports the determination of current and future space needs and utilization, maintains existing physical facilities, and oversees construction and renovation projects.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

Department Specific Functions
Responsible for analysis and management of faculty recruitment packages
Provides strategic, operational, and administrative leadership for malignant and benign Hematology services. Serves as the primary liaison for Hematology services with leadership of the Oncology Service Line (OSL), Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC), Physician Recruitment and Development team, UHealth Tower, and Hematology/Oncology Satellite Practices
Develops business, financial, personnel, and marketing plans that foster growth, while meeting patient and provider needs
Collaborates with the SCCC Physician Recruitment team in developing plans for expansion, including acquisition of external practices and opening new clinic sites
Actively supports recruitment of faculty and staff physicians to achieve these objectives. Responsible for:

Offer Letter
Clinical deployment
Directs administrative functions and serves as the primary liaison for the DOM Community Specialty Physician groups
Works with UHealth clinical sites to assure marketing, coordination of services, program development and optimal integration of services
Responsible for analysis and execution of all MOUs for purchased services
Serves as the primary liaison with the SCCC Finance Director and OSL Finance Director on all issues related to support for new faculty and staff physician recruits or new initiatives. Ensures commitments are honored and tracked in accordance with initial offer and retention letters and program plans
Provides leadership in managing the Faculty Compensation Plans for Hematology Faculty and Specialty Community Physicians in collaboration with the Division Chief, OSL leadership, SCCC and the Chairs Office
Collaborates with the DOM and SCCC research teams to ensure research budgets are managed appropriately and clinical trial revenues are maximized
Collaborates with the Physician in Chief and Associate Chief Medical Officer for Cancer Services on initiatives related to the Hematology/Oncology Service
Serves as the lead for the DOM leadership recruitment team and mentors junior administrators
