Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an accomplished Senior Manager to lead our Corporate Consolidation Team within the Global Financial Services division. This critical role oversees all aspects of Caterpillar Inc.'s monthly consolidated financial closing process and manages a team of five skilled accounting professionals. The position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data, compliance with intercompany governance, support for complex accounting needs across the organization, and acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the OneStream implementation project. This position is located at the Corporate Headquarters in Irving, Texas (Hybrid).
Key Responsibilities:
Monthly Consolidation : Lead the consolidation of approximately 260 legal entity financial ledgers to generate Caterpillar Inc.'s consolidated financial results, including statements of operations and financial position for the Executive Management Team.
Collaboration with Financial Systems : Work closely with the Financial Systems team to ensure proper setup of new legal entities, execution of monthly close processes, and prompt resolution of system issues.
Technical Guidance on Complex Transactions : Provide advanced accounting support for complex global issues and Caterpillar accountants enterprise wide. This involves partnering with Technical Accounting Managers to accurately record acquisitions, divestitures, and other significant transactions.
Restructuring Support : Offer guidance for corporate restructurings and legal entity ownership changes.
SEC Reporting : Assist in preparing quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) filings, including populating and supporting financial statements and relevant footnotes.
Team Leadership : Manage, mentor, and evaluate a high-performing team. This includes evaluating staff performance, participating in employee selection, providing career guidance and complying with personnel practices.
Project Oasis : Serve as the SME for legal entity reporting.
Skills Needed:
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent; CPA or CMA certification; 10-15 years of progressive accounting experience in a multinational public company.
Finance and Accounting : Knowledge of finance and accounting practices, financial analysis, and reporting; ability to apply finance knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
Organizational Governance : Knowledge of the processes, customs, policies, and rules affecting the way the organization is administered and controlled; ability to ensure compliance with governance guidelines and policies.
Leadership : Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there.
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP): Knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); ability to apply GAAP appropriately within the organization
Top Candidates Will Have:
Proven supervisory experience.
Strong expertise in legal entity accounting and global financial systems.
Knowledge of Caterpillar's accounting structure and policies preferred.
Experience with GBS models desirable.
