Position Number:
P0995W
Adjunct Lecturer in Theatre and Dance
The Department of Theatre, Speech, and Dance is committed to preserving, transmitting, and expanding our understanding of these disciplines within the larger context of a liberal arts education. A hallmark of the department's mission is the active integration of scholarly and artistic work in both courses and productions. The disciplinary relationship between Theatre and Dance offers a unique environment in which to explore and study performance and production from a multi-disciplinary and collaborative perspective. Students are offered a course of study designed to develop creative potential, foster inventive thought, and contribute to an appreciation of humankind's artistic, intellectual, and cultural heritage.
The Department is committed, through its productions, to providing cultural resources for university and community audiences, including classical and contemporary works that challenge and integrate commercial theatre and dance. The disciplines of Theatre and Dance, because of their ever-evolving nature, are particularly well‑equipped to prepare students to be highly responsive in rapidly changing environments both within and outside of these disciplines.
The Department of Theatre, Speech, and Dance is recruiting a pool of persons for possible adjunct teaching positions in Theatre and Dance. For the 2024-25 academic year, the department seeks an adjunct to teach Stage Management and an adjunct to teach Dance Composition and Modern I; however, this pool will remain open for additional needs that arise. This pool will be accessed when an opening arises. We are also looking for an adjunct professor for Lighting Design for 2024-2025 academic year.
A Master's degree or equivalent experience and qualifications is required.
An MFA in Theatre or Dance or a related field is preferred at the time the candidate begins the appointment, August 10 for fall or January 10 for spring start date. Previous academic teaching experience is desirable. Two years teaching in a college or university setting.
