The Center for Computing Education is actively recruiting teaching Postdoctoral Scholars with a specialization in computing education to join our team at The Ohio State University. This position is crucial to advancing our mission to enhance computing education and reach non-computing students.
The teaching Postdoctoral Scholar will play a key role in developing and delivering innovative computing education courses tailored to students from non-computing backgrounds. Their expertise in computing education, combined with a passion for teaching and mentoring, will enable us to broaden our impact and equip a diverse student population with essential computational skills.
Designs and delivers engaging computing courses for non-computing students, emphasizing practical applications and real-world relevance. Develops educational materials, resources, and assessments to support effective learning outcomes in computing. Provides mentorship and support to students to foster their interest and success in computing. Teaches one course per semester. Develops independent line of education research inquiry. Contributes to research projects and initiatives aimed at improving computing education practices and outcomes.
Essential Duties:
25%- Designs and delivers engaging computing courses for non-computing students, emphasizing practical applications and real-world relevance. Teaches one course per semester.
65%- Carries out research activities focused on the development of project ideas and designs and implements educational research inquiry. Contributes to research projects and initiatives aimed at improving computing education practices and outcomes.
10%- Assists with the development of grant writing and proposals. Assists the principal investigator (PI) in publication writing.
Required:

Required Education:
Ph. D. in computer science, computing education, engineering education or
related field.
Required Experience:
Demonstrated expertise in computing education research, curriculum development, and pedagogical innovation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse students and stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a culture of innovation and excellence.

Hiring Range: $61,008 - $70,000
