Fugro is looking for a dynamic Associate Engineer who is a self-starter who can manage all facets of environmental site investigations from Phase I ESAs through remedial investigations, UST and AST investigations, hazardous materials evaluations, geo-data collection activities, and reporting requirements in accordance with California and Federal environmental regulations.
This individual should have a strong understanding of site safety and managing projects to ensure all work is completed in compliance with OSHA and local and state agency permitting requirements.
This candidate will be expected to conduct business development tasks including client engagement and development, lead generation, and proposal preparation. Current working knowledge of the environmental and geo-data markets throughout the State of California and within the Western USA is a requirement. Working knowledge of geologic studies, geotechnical engineering studies, water resource studies, and industrial hygiene practices are expected. Work will also include staff mentoring, project management, task management, subcontractor and vendor coordination, business reporting, and invoice management.

Work with the Fugro Sac office Principal Engineer and Fugro California and Western US business leaders to establish an expansion plan for the Northern California area.
Work independently to identify ways to support the Fugro business sectors.
Be able to travel extensively (required), both domestically and internationally.

Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company's processes, including safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
Be Client-satisfaction driven.
Communicate tactfully and effectively, verbally and in writing.
Job Requirements:
Authorized to work in the United States, without restrictions.
Must reside, or be willing to relocate to live within 30 minutes of our Sacramento office location.
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from accredited colleges or university's required; Master's degree in civil or environmental engineering, or water resource management from accredited colleges or university's highly preferred. Registered as a Certified Industrial Hygienist also highly preferred.
Licensed California Professional Engineer required.
Minimum 15 years of "high touch" environmental consultation with hazardous waste management knowledge and working experience, with 5+ years of business or group management preferred.
Provide evidence of successfully building business relationships.
Knowledge of proposal preparation and lead generation processes.
Bringing in business relationships that can be fostered is a plus.
Experienced with soil sampling, monitoring well installation, well sampling, UST removal observation and sampling, soil vapor, and air sampling, knowledge of soil vapor extraction system operation, coordination of subcontractors, management of IDW, knowledge of remedial alternatives, knowledge of regulatory framework governing the environmental practice, data validation and tabulation, and reporting, all highly desired.
Possess understanding and knowledge of natural resources, geosciences, industrial hygiene, water resources, geochemistry, safety, hazardous waste management laws, environmental site assessment, and providing evidence of continuing education in these disciplines at a minimum.
Possess data management, math, and statistics skills.
Must be computer literate, and able to learn software for communication, project management, and technical analysis.
Proficient in technical writing and editing for content.
Must be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle.
Possess a valid driver's license and insurance with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Possess or be able to obtain a valid passport, the ability to travel extensively both domestically and internationally.
