Yale Pathways to Science is Yale University's unique infrastructure that provides a framework for sharing Yale's vast scientific resources with students from the local schools. Established in 2012, Pathways to Science has helped the Yale community run hundreds of successful programs for students in grades 6-12. Through memorandums of understanding with the local school districts, this program follows these young students from first entry into a Yale program through college completion.
Reporting to the Pathways Program Director in Yale's Office of New Haven Affairs and working closely with the Director of Public School Partnerships, the person in this position will be responsible for the coordination and administration of all aspects of ongoing programs. They are responsible for maintaining the infrastructure that supports departments, faculty, staff, and students across the University in developing and implementing successful, on-campus, out-of-school time programs and events for local 6-12th grade students. The work includes marketing and communications, planning, organizing, staffing, and sometimes leading program activities, as well as the training and supervision of student and summer employees. This person will be responsible for the development of new programs and the development, implementation, and coordination of the Pathways to Science Summer Scholars Program.
Essential Duties:
1. In support of the overall mission, plans, directs, and oversees programmatic activities 2. Oversees the development of detailed plans and successful implementation of projects in concert with stakeholders. 3. Works closely with business analysts, technical professionals, end users, and project stakeholders during the requirements, solutions design, and implementation phases to develop detailed project plans for implementation. 4. Works on risk assessment, communication planning, development of performance metrics, and project entry criteria. 5. Create detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, to ensure the successful completion of the project. 6. Manages client expectations and provides issue/risk identification and escalation pathways. 7. Analyzes user needs and proposes new training programs or systems. 8. Designs, develops, and executes communication systems to ensure effective exchange of information between project stakeholders, senior management, and staff. 9. Resolves complex project issues that involve representatives from multiple organizations. 10. Complies with standard policies and procedures.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Demonstrated flexibility and agility to adapt to changing work demands and balance many projects simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to interact with a broad range of individuals including high school & college-age students, parents, faculty members and staff on a wide variety of academic and professionally related issues.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Proven ability with and/or demonstrated comfort level teaching and working with high school age audiences. Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Demonstrated commitment to pedagogical development in high school students and or undergraduate and graduate students.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Self-starter and entrepreneurial, with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to quickly learn new technology, including online systems and platforms such as Salesforce, Canva, Slack, Notion, comfort with managing and analyzing and presenting large amounts of information in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Masters or Ph.D. in a field relevant to the academic content of Pathways to Science. Demonstrated experience with academic enrichment programs.
