Job Description:

Applications are now being accepted for the position of:
System Inspector
FUNCTION:
Inspecting new and altered electrical installations, reviewing plans, approving permits, educating customers and/or their contractors, enforcing codes and standards, and maintaining records.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1Inspection of electric facilities.
2Inspect electrical service entrances up to main overcurrent protection device to ensure compliance with local, NEC, and NESC rules and regulations.
3Review plans and inspect installations of Distributed Generators and Emergency Generators.
4Inspect new construction, upgrades, and replacements of electrical facilities.
5Assist with the progression of work orders.
6Communicate and meet with customers to address concerns, requests, deficiencies, service problems, and outage planning.
7Interface with other City departments and other governmental entities.
8Review of assorted submittals from City Planning department.
9Assist in the development and revision of construction standards and engineering reference material.
10Evaluate and recommend construction and operating practices.
11Assist with system restoration due to storms, failures, and abnormalities.
12Subject to emergency response after normal working hours.
13Know, understand, and follow GEUS safety rules, policies, and procedures.
14Monitor, review and approve the GEUS portion of the City of Greenville issued permits requested for new homes, fences, additions, remodels, accessory buildings, signs and electrical permits for residential and commercial projects.
15Capable of learning and understanding City of Greenville ordinances associated with construction and new developments that apply to the GEUS system.
16Capable of representing the utility on many different levels, requiring intuitive thinking and understanding of a wide range of rules and regulations and City ordinances.

Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instruction and to perform any other job-related duties requested by supervisor or management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
1High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
2Must hold a Journeyman electricians license within the State of Texas, at minimum
3Electric utility related experience.
4Working knowledge of electrical theory.
5Proficiency in use of tools and equipment appropriate to job responsibilities.
6Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and management as well as customers, City and state personnel, and personnel from other utilities.
7Working knowledgeable of NESC and NEC rules and regulations, safety rules, and APPA Safety Manual.
8Proficiency with standard PC software including MS Office software.
9Valid Texas drivers license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
1Qualified applicants would preferably hold a Master Electrician License
2A degree in Electrical Engineering with a history of MEP design is also acceptable.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
1Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
2Ability to work outside under adverse conditions
