Job Description:

Antea USA, Inc. (Antea®Group) is looking for an ambitious, detail-oriented Mid-level Environmental, Health and Safety Program Manager in Hayward. CA. This position is a full-time role that will be embedded with our client, 5 days per week. This assignment is anticipated to last 6 months and could be extended.



As an Environmental, Health and Safety Program Manager, you will be located at our client's facility on a daily basis, and work with their EHS Management team to provide EHS services, solutions, programs, best practices and technical guidance. You will use your expertise to provide facility level EHS compliance support in areas such as: preparing facility for ISO and development/implementation of Management Systems such as ISO 45001, 14001, development of Written Program for various EHS topics, chemical management and reporting, and navigation and supporting various environmental regulatory compliance items including, but not limited to stormwater, wastewater, hazardous waste, solid waste, air emissions, etc.



Typical job assignments may include but are not limited to:



  • Coordinate activities to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental, health and safety requirements.

  • Develop and implement risk assessment tools and develop applicable EHS programs and procedures.

  • Develop EHS training content and conduct training as needed (i.e. - New Employee Orientation, Lockout / Tagout).

  • Be an EHS representative for site-related projects. This includes reviewing Management of Change forms (MoC), conducting project safety reviews, evaluating new equipment, overseeing contractors, conducting site walks for environmental permitting, and other tasks.

  • Assist with incident management, including incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions.

  • Work with EHS Team and site Managers to perform ergonomic assessments, support industrial hygiene (IH) surveys, perform job hazard analyses (JHA), process hazard analysis, and other risk assessments, support identify and implement personal protective equipment (PPE) programs, perform waste characterization, material management, air emissions inventory, stormwater and SPCC applicability, chemical inventory, and/or other hazard assessments.

  • Conduct environmental, health and safety compliance audits, inspections, and support or perform compliance sampling.

  • Manage permitting processes, regulatory audits, and correspondence with governing agencies.

  • Working with Construction Design Team to ensure safety measures are properly incorporated

  • Maintaining site and program-level EHS records.

  • Supporting Sustainability, Business Continuity, EHS Management System, Health Management and other product and facility-related environmental, health and safety initiatives.

  • May be required to perform other EHS related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, Ergonomics, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience managing Environmental, Health & Safety projects

  • Must have a deep understanding of Federal OSHA and EPA, CALOSHA and CALEPA and local EHS regulations and their applicability. Further understanding of NFPA, DOT, and/or international environment, health & safety regulations is a plus.

  • Experience with Process Safety Management regulations and auditing is a plus

  • Experience in R&D facility a plus.

  • Experience in construction design for safety

  • Experience working in industry or consulting to Technology, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Bio-tech, and/or Manufacturing, or other general industry companies.

  • ASP, CSP, CHMM certification or equivalent is preferred.

  • Experience developing and implementing management systems such as ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 5000 is highly desired.

  • Able to work independently with an attention to details

  • Must have a strong desire to talk with, influence, lead a team, and directly interface with multiple clients and stakeholders. Additionally, must be able to take direction and coaching from both clients and team members.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future.

  • Potential employees must be able to satisfactorily complete a background check, pre-employment drug screening (as permitted by law), and baseline physical (safety sensitive roles).

Physical Requirements / Work Environment - Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:


  • Sedentary to light work (typical office or administrative work)

  • Frequently required to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time

  • Occasional lifting and carrying of low (under 25lbs) to moderate (25-49lbs) weight objects

  • Repetitive motions: substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers (including reaching)

  • Subject to inside environmental conditions (protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change)

Additionally, if you are assigned work in the field at client project sites you will need to complete a medical surveillance/fitness-for-duty examination and maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following:


  • Medium to heavy work

  • Subject to outside environmental conditions: heat/cold, wind, wet and/or humid, etc.

  • Occasional stooping (bending body downward and forward), kneeling (bending legs at knee), crouching (bending body downward and forward) and climbing

  • Frequent lifting (including push/pull, hold/carry) of light, moderate and possibly heavy weight objects

  • Subject to hazards, including a variety of physical conditions, including but not limited to: proximity to moving vehicles, parts or equipment; exposure to chemicals; pressure (including noise); electrical hazards; biological hazards; excavation/trenching; confined spaces; elevated work; materials handling

  • May be required to wear an air purifying respirator


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS



The hourly range for this position is $45.00 - $51.00. Compensation will vary depending on the applicant's job-related knowledge and skills, education, and work experience.
