The responsibilities of a Route Sales Representative include selling and delivering products to clients using company vehicles, loading from the warehouse and unloading at their delivery stops as needed. This role requires you to develop new leads in the field, monitor customer feedback, and handle problems experienced by clients related to the products in a friendly and efficient manner. Other job duties include ensuring on-time delivery, making sure the orders are correct, and communicating throughout all aspects of the transaction, and offering support when issues arise. As a route sales representative, you are expected to meet sales goals and promote overall route growth as well.
Duties and Responsibilities
Drive equipment in a professional and safe manner at all times
Deliver products as invoiced to specified licensed retailer
Builds strong relationships with customers and delivery personnel
Addresses customer needs in a timely manner
Check-in invoiced orders with customers in a friendly, courteous manner
Increase consumer awareness of brands through proactive shelf management practices to include presentations for additional space, location, flow and organization of products
Manage quality of all Company products to ensure that only fresh and damage free product is available for sale and consumption.
Collect and return all payments as required
Account for all invoices as merchandise delivered and merchandise returned
Complete appropriate paperwork throughout the delivery process in a timely fashion
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of the organization
Ensure truck check-in procedures are followed daily
Ensure truck service and safety issues are reported daily
Attend monthly safety meeting
Attend required safety courses and other classes as needed
Report any local, state or federal moving violations to management
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency plus 2 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
One year of driving experience
Must be 21 years of age
Valid State Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to navigate the assigned driving area in an efficient manner
Customer service oriented, friendly, helpful, and have a professional disposition
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Knowledge of marketplace experience, developments and trends related to the industry; ability to use this information in support of organizational goals
Physical Demands
Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine
Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 45 lbs
