The Assistant Vice President for Process Improvement and Project Design will report to the Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and lead unit and enterprise process improvement initiatives, leveraging (among other strategies) Lean Six Sigma methodologies to enhance operational efficiency and optimize project design. This individual establishes long-term improvement initiatives to meet long-term strategic objectives, through leadership and development of business relationships across the university. This leader drives innovation and excellence within the area of business analysis, process improvement, and optimal project design. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and hands-on leader, capable of driving change through data-driven insights and continuous improvement initiatives.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Builds an enterprise process improvement team within University Strategic Initiatives to achieve the following:
Ensure enterprise-wide projects and initiatives are guided/informed by process improvement analysis
Conduct large-scale process improvement analyses and recommendations (i.e. a review of a major functional unit, or major functions, like web development, etc.)
Create a network of trained staff across key units on process improvement (yellow belts, green belts, etc.). Coordinate and integrate these staff in improvement objectives as relevant.
Establishes enterprise monitoring, reporting, and validation of ROI, savings, and resource efficiencies.
Leads Process Improvement Team and Strategies to support the following university initiatives:
Leads the university's process improvement team.
Implements project management strategies and structures that foster Lean Six Sigma strategies across projects to ensure consistent application of process improvement methodologies.
Develops and implements metrics to track process performance and provide regular reports to senior leadership on the progress and outcomes of improvement initiatives.
Provides comprehensive Project Design and Management:
Directs the implementation of best practices in project design, ensuring that all projects are efficiently planned, executed, and aligned with organizational goals.
Ensures standardization in project management methodologies across the organization, adopting recognized frameworks such as PMI or Agile where appropriate.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, deliverables, and success metrics.
Leads Training and Staff Development Programs:
Develops and delivers relevant training programs for staff on Lean Six Sigma methodologies and other process improvement tools.
Mentors and coaches staff in process improvement strategies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Serves as a subject matter expert and resource for all process improvement and project management-related queries and challenges.
Upholds Governance and Best Practices:
Implements and upholds governance structures to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensures that processes improvement strategies align with broader organizational strategies and objectives.

Master's degree in a related field

WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
7 years of relevant experience in project management and process improvement
3 years of management experience

10 years of relevant experience
5 years of management experience, including leading complex, enterprise-wide projects
