What do you know about the Nebraska Department of Agriculture? The Department is a very diverse agency with approximately 26 different cash accounts, approximately 14 federal funds and performs similar accounting/budgeting duties for seven commodity board agencies. We are 90% regulatory and 10% promotion with 4 focus areas Food Safety Consumer Protection, Animal Plant Health Protection, Supervision, and Promotion.
This position is primarily responsible for accounts receivable. Most of the duties are reoccurring and required daily or monthly. This position is great for someone who enjoys repetition and knowing what to expect each day. There is also cross training to assist with other clerical work within the Finance area.

Job duties
- Create daily Treasurer's deposits for cash and checks received by the Department.
- Create morning deposit listings for monies received online for the previous day.
- Work with Focus Areas on deposit reconciliation and questions.
- Complete journal entries to move money to appropriate accounts.
- Manage check log to verify money is deposited within statutory limit.
- Oversees PCI Compliance.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualfiications: Post high school coursework or vocational education in accounting, finance, business administration or related field OR experience performing accounting functions including interpreting and analyzing financial data.
Other: Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience with MS Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage time and ensure tasks are completed daily.
- Proficient at organization and managing information from several sources.
- Communicating information in an efficient and professional manner.
