The Custom Silver Specialist is responsible for the silver etching of high- profile trophies and trophy components in addition to silver wedding trays and other silver merchandise. This includes working closely with graphic artists to review and discuss in detail production artwork as it relates to the processing of trophies and various unique silver pieces and establishing pricing and servicing timelines for new trophies. Perform all facets of the job which include staging of merchandise, exposing, setup, sand carving, checking and quality inspection are also requirements of this position. Strong communication skills are necessary as is attending weekly production meetings and routinely conducting internal and external tours. Pick, pack and coordinate the servicing and attachment of plaques to wood bases in addition to performing periodic cycle counts of the area. Manually manage the receipt and inventory of new Tiffany custom presentation cases for new trophies. The role requires the ability to work under intense volume and meeting strict due dates. Written and verbal communication skills for administrative duties. Strong ability for self-time management and multitasking.
What You'll Do:
Exposing of film, skillfully set up and taping of trophies, silver wedding trays and custom crystal merchandise in preparation for sand carving. Steps include placing adhesive on silver components and crystal merchandise, aligning film with measuring tools, applying mask onto merchandise, and intricately taping the custom piece to protect the silver and craftsmanship of one of a kind trophy component. This process may need to be repeated several times to complete one piece.
Perform sand carving while using various blasting medias in self-contained blasting units to create an artistic outcome of a required depth, evenness, and consistency. Polish and cut merchandise as necessary utilizing the polishing and cutting wheels. Use the required personal protective equipment during the process and while operating equipment.
Administrative duties include working closely with Hollowware and Graphics in reviewing production artwork and layouts, communicating costs and timelines for projects, keeping track of various completion dates on the MasterPlan and systematically processing orders and trophies for final shipment through WMS. In addition, participating in weekly meetings with our internal vendors and conducting tours. Duties also include gaining written approval from management and working with Shipping for the manual shipping of trophy components.
Quality inspection of completed silver merchandise and crystal maintaining Tiffany & Company standards with regards to quality of merchandise and servicing. This includes a final inspection of completed high profile trophies before shipment to high profile events. Responsible for ensuring the re-work and replacements are processed in a timely manner and that movement of merchandise to supporting service shops for additional servicing, technical repair and final polishing are completed by scheduled due date.
Adapt easily to new responsibilities including the capacity to work independently or in a group environment allowing for the flexing to Etching or other areas to support business needs.
Work safely at all times by consistently following safe work procedures for your position as well as all safety procedures required at your worksite. Promptly report all incidents and safety issues to your management team.
Required Qualifications:
Strong analytical and mathematic skills needed.
The ability to visualize, convert and scale production artwork and paper mock ups for set up on rounded and various shaped pieces.
Ability to pay fine attention to details for an extended period of time, while juggling multiple projects.
Capability to maintain focus and effectiveness while under stress due to volume of work, high value of merchandise and tight timelines.
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be creative in terms of problem solving and execution to complete one of a kind projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical school training or 5 years of related experience.
