Description of Work:

The School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SVMBS) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) is seeking applications for an open rank biomedical education professor of practice position. This 12-month (calendar year), non-tenure track appointment, located in Lincoln, Nebraska, will have a 100% teaching apportionment.
The biomedical educator will participate in the University of Nebraska-Iowa State University Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine and will be expected to teach and contribute to Veterinary Anatomy I and II and other basic science and veterinary medicine courses. Courses taught will be appropriate for professional, undergraduate, and graduate students. Specific course assignments may change over time based on SVMBS and CASNR needs. The biomedical educator will also be expected to develop innovative teaching methods; advise/mentor undergraduate, graduate and professional students; and participate in recruitment and retention activities.
The incumbent will be expected to participate in collaborative scholarship within biomedical or veterinary sciences and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning, contributing to the generation of new knowledge in their field. Expectations of this position include communication of scholarly outputs at conferences and meetings and other scholarship (e.g. peer-reviewed publications, textbooks) that contributes to the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR).
In addition to the above-described duties, the individual will be expected to accept committee assignments, reporting responsibilities, and other special ad hoc assignments as requested at the administrative unit, college/division, institute, and/or university level.

Minimum Required Qualifications:



  • DVM (or equivalent) or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field of study at the time of appointment.

  • Experience and qualifications sufficient for appointment at the rank of assistant professor of practice.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • DVM (or equivalent) and a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field of study.

  • Experience and qualifications sufficient for appointment at the rank of associate or full professor of practice.

  • Demonstrated success in classroom teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, or professional (i.e. veterinary medicine) level.

  • Experience teaching anatomy, including dissection and/or prosection-based laboratories.

  • Ability to teach other biomedical courses, such as embryology, histology, and/or neuroanatomy.

  • A record of peer reviewed publications relevant to and appropriate for the position.
