Job Description Summary
The Research Specialist B will assist the principal investigator in the management of the laboratory, including organization of the lab space, managing protocols, equipment, software, and documentation. He/she will also assist post-doctoral fellows and graduate students in the laboratory in the performance of in vitro and in vivo experiments, including molecular biology, cell culture and flow cytometry. Primary duties include molecular biology work, RNA and DNA extraction and plasmid preparations, lentiviral/retroviral vector work and harvesting, assisting with next generation sequencing cell culture. The applicant will be required to have good experience with DNA cloning techniques and troubleshooting skills. The research specialist will have experience with next-generation sequencing including preparation of clone libraries, conducting sequencing reactions, (ideally also preparing sequencing instrumentation for operation, and analyzing data). The applicant's work will facilitate and expedite existing projects in the lab. He/she will be required to perform/support additional in vitro and in vivo experiments, including preparation and staining of samples for flow cytometry, performance of immunofluorescence microscopy, and animal work including intravenous injections, bleeding, and harvest of tumors.

Position contingent upon grant funding.
Qualifications:
1-3 years of relevant experience in immunology, tissue culture, flow cytometry, and related disciplines
Bachelor's degree in Biology or related science or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Previous lab experience in areas of cancer and HIV preferred
Strong background and demonstrated experience in T cell immunology and flow cytometry.
Self-starter
Can work independently
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Strong experience working on research teams and directly participating in research studies.
Strong multitasking abilities and an extremely high-level of reliability and dependability.
Excellent organizational record keeping skills are necessary
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to develop and maintain multiple internal and external relationships regarding research
