Job Description Summary
This position will assist in the management of multiple clinical trials and responsibilities in specific research area.
Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to operate a custom built adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscope (AOSLO) and perform substantial AOSLO retinal image analysis. The AOSLO built in the Morgan lab is a one-of-a- kind device whose purpose is to enable cellular imaging of structure and function in the human retina noninvasively. There are only a handful of comparable AOSLO devices world-wide, and that the successful candidate must have prior experience operating custom built imaging systems and/or show they are capable of successfully operating the Morgan Lab AOSLO. The successful candidate will also perform retinal image analysis through customized processing routines, requiring keen attention to detail. The person in this position will also coordinate patient visits for clinical trials and research visits. This will include scheduling patient travel, collecting data for study visits, and analyzing study data.
This position will assist in the management of multiple clinical trials and responsibilities in specific research area. Coordinate the screening of patients, subject enrollment, collection and storage of biological samples and related study documents, and collection of clinical data. Assist with Institutional Review Board (IRB) filings and inquiries, and assist in the preparation of manuscripts, grant proposals, and research related presentations. Works closely with the Principal Investigator, manager, and study team to identify problems and develop solutions. Implement approved changes to procedures as needed and monitor results. Responsible for study coordination for investigator-initiated studies, multi-center research studies, and patient-oriented clinical and translational research projects.
Clinical Research Coordinator B: With minimal supervision, coordinate Phase I-IV clinical trials. Recruit, consent and screen patients according to protocol. Schedule patient visits and any necessary testing. Monitor patients per protocol requirements and ensure adherence to protocol requirements. Organize and maintain all documentation required by the sponsor or CRO-includes source documentation, case report forms, and research charts. Collect, review and report study data, complete case report forms and resolve data queries, process and ship study specimens including blood, urine and tissue samples. Participate in initiation monitoring, audit and close-out visits. Participate in study team meetings, disease site group meetings, and ongoing protocol training/compliance meetings. Assist in the development/maintenance of specific case report forms and source document tools, show vigilance in patient safety, protocol compliance and data quality. Assist in the monitoring of external sites and assist in the management of multi-site trials. Adhere to all University of Pennsylvania, FDA and GCP guidelines.
Qualifications
Clinical Research Coordinator A - Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Clinical Research Coordinator B - Bachelor's Degree with 2-4 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Position is contingent on funding.
