Job Role Summary
The Buyer/Planner forecasts, plans, and purchases supplies for the organization ensuring that the level of supplies meets the OR schedule and stock levels required to maintain operational continuity. The Buyer/Planner delivers efficient, effective and flexible solutions to meet OR requirements. Maintains strong relationships both internally and externally to ensure supply of materials meets requirements.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Using Materials Requirements Planning (MRP), forecasts and schedules the supply of materials/components, including day-to-day purchase order release and management, to meet the Surgery schedule requirements and minimum safety stock levels.
Lead internal and external relationships to ensure consistent, timely and effective communication regarding material availability.
Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers and ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries are made on time.
Understand and manage risks to minimize impact on the Surgery schedule.
Timely resolution of material shortages that affect the Surgery schedule.
Implement all processes to standards and targets, support continuous improvement initiatives and identify areas of improvement.
Utilize SAP-MRP and ensure that data is accurate and up-to-date and resolve any issues identified.
Monitor the integrity of Preference Cards
Manage inventory accuracy. Monitor inventory levels against agreed upon target levels.
Minimize obsolete stock and ensure business is left with minimum liability
Create regular statistical reports and analysis for others in the organization.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.
A minimum of three years' experience working with MRP planning.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge and experience using MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - written, verbal, and leadership.
Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma techniques may be advantageous.
Project management skills.
Excellent attention to details.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Office computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point. Database such as Access is a plus.
