The Global Controller is responsible for:

• \tOverseeing all aspects of the Global Controllership function including the Record to Report and Procure to Pay accounting cycles and the related transactional internal controls.
• \tEstablishing and maintaining accounting procedures and transactional internal controls to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and management reporting requirements.

This leadership position will interact with senior management, operations employees, external auditors, consultants and third parties and manage a team of employees.

Close the Books


  • Ensure the general ledger is closed timely each period end following the completion of all transactional and periodic journal entries

  • Oversees the global consolidation and eliminations

  • Ensure that journal entries are properly recorded in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Performs in-depth review of key account reconciliations and journal entries

  • Evaluate and review key estimates within the Company's books and records including, allowance for doubtful accounts, rebates and other contractual adjustments, inventory reserves, impairment testing of goodwill and intangibles among others

  • Coordinate with Company's FP&A and External Reporting Resources to include monthly, quarterly and annual reports and presentations

  • Play a leadership role in annual audits with internal and external auditors. Ensure data requests from auditors are prepared timely, correctly and are thoroughly reviewed.

Internal Controls


  • Oversee elements of the Company's SOX documentation including Risk Control Matrix and Process Narratives that impact the Global Accounting team.

  • Supervise the review of controls with process owners and coordination of testing with Internal Audit.

  • Accountable for ensuring appropriate root cause of control analysis of deficiencies and ensuring remediation activities occur.

Reporting and Financial Analysis


  • Responsible for overseeing daily and monthly financial output for business unit and corporate management reports.

  • Ensures the timely and accurate reporting for the global financial key performance indicators (KPI's) around receivables, inventory and payables. Reviews data on historical and future trends in performance. Provides forecasts and trends of expenses and identifies issues and opportunities.

  • Participate as needed in period sales and expense forecast updates providing financial data and associated analysis.

  • Supervise preparation and delivery of certain third-party informational reports required for contractual compliance

  • Participate as needed in routine briefings for members of the executive leadership team.

Process Improvement & Project Management


  • Responsible for identifying, recommending and implementing process improvement, including:

    • The creation of processes and procedures that enable global expansion

    • Standardizing global accounting procedures and policies

    • Simplifying and automating accounting processes



  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Relationships


  • Externally interfaces with auditors, vendors and strategic consultants. Internally interfaces with cross functional groups (i.e. operations, commercial operations, International BU, marketing, compliance, legal, and human resources

  • Key communication role to ensure remainder of Finance team informed of developments and activities

People Leadership


  • Creates the Bioventus organizational processes and systems to support the transactional accounting. Build a team that can support the systems and processes on an ongoing basis.

  • Coach and manage performance of direct reports as well as their supervision of extended team, ensure focus on functional and company objectives. Conduct full performance management cycle.

  • Lead by example and uphold the highest ethical standards in performing all duties compliantly, ethically, and in a manner that reflects our culture principles.

What you will bring:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.

  • Relevant advance degree is preferred but not required

  • CPA or equivalent required

  • Significant knowledge of U.S. GAAP requirements, including consolidations, eliminations and foreign currency translations.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Highly effective communicator (up, across, down) both written and orally

  • Ability to proactively identify problems and respond quickly

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage projects that are complex in nature where professional judgment is required in solving problems and making recommendations.

  • Demonstrated strong accounting and analytical/problem solving skills.

  • SAP experience and strong working knowledge of accounting applications.

  • Minimum 15 years' financial accounting experience.

  • Life Sciences industry, public company and international experience preferred

  • Must have experience managing process changes with a large organization/function.

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience managing people.
