The Product Development Merchandiser plays a crucial role in supporting product management, design, marketing, and production in the execution of new products, ensuring they align with consumer demand, market trends, brand objectives and meet milestone dates. This role involves both the creative support of new product development and the daily monitoring of the product life cycle. The PD Merchandiser is passionate about building products that solve consumer problems, support profitable business growth, and make people HAPPY. This person will thrive in a fast-paced environment while working with cross-functional teams to design, build and roll-out products that deliver on the company's mission and strategy.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Works closely with product management and design teams to ensure new products align with market trends, consumer needs, and brand strategy requirements.
Tracks and analyzes sales performance of new products post-launch, providing insights on product and merchandising effectiveness, and recommending adjustments or optimizations.
Conducts research on industry trends, consumer behavior, and competitor products to inform the product development process and make recommendations on new product opportunities or modifications.
Collaborates with marketing, sales, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless product launch execution, from development through FOB.
Responsible for product management duties related to product launches, product updates, and ensure targeted milestones are met on time.
Create and maintain seasonal development line lists in PLM system and communicate all information to internal teams according to business process and milestone due dates.
Help to support the product development process from initial concept to final production stage.
Own, manage and communicate BOM's with product specifications and packaging for costing and final placement purposes.
Communicate and develop partnerships with overseas vendors for any product development, compliance needs as applicable.
Work closely with the Compliance team to ensure all products meet key account and licensor requirements to maintain the sample process.
Monitors deliverables of key development milestones across multiple functions and pull weekly reports to track the development process/progress.
Collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Design, Purchasing, and Operations on all aspects required for successful program launch
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience
5-7 years of product development or product management experience with a background in consumer goods, paper, and/or apparel
Bachelor's degree required
Clear understanding of the product development life cycle, including development, sampling, costing, packaging, and production
Experience working in ERP and PLM systems
Skills
Strong communication, organizational, writing and analytical skills
Extreme attention to detail, creative and critical thinker
Proactive self-starter with a positive attitude
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Adobe Illustrator
PLM system experience required
Print production experience preferred
Take ownership of assigned tasks and follow-through in a fast-paced environment
Product knowledge and brand identification a plus
MacOS experience preferred
