The EHS Manager position will assist the corporate environmental team with addressing site compliance challenges related to Darigold's Clean Water Act (NPDES) wastewater discharge permit and a stormwater pollution prevention permit (includes Darigold's Bozeman site Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan). Position tasks involve wastewater and stormwater sampling, working with third party labs, various data reporting, site inspections, and completion of corrective actions. The EHS Manager will also work with the corporate environmental team to address Clean Air Act issues such as greenhouse gas emissions reporting and emission source assessments. Additionally, Darigold is committed to maintaining sustainable business operations. The EHS Manager will accurately track energy consumption and water usage, along with waste generation (primarily universal wastes) and various waste minimization/reduction efforts. The EHS Manager is also responsible for facilitating Darigold's annual environmental training event at the assigned site (Bozeman).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties as assigned) • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements governing environmental protection, occupational safety, and health standards by staying current and informed on federal, state, and local rules and regulations. • Interfaces with regulatory agencies, plant staff, and the corporate HSE team as needed. • Monitor environmental compliance and ensure timely internal and external reporting and data input into Darigold's tracking systems. Alert and advise the Plant Manager and Vice President HSE when permit and/or compliance issues develop. • Monitor occupational safety and health compliance and ensure timely internal and external reporting and data input into Darigold's tracking systems. Alert and advise the Plant Manager and the Vice President HSE when HSE issues develop. • Respond and provide guidance and assistance for all emergencies. • Develop and/or update all OSHA-required programs on an annual basis. • Work with plant management to develop and/or update machine-specific Lockout/Tagout procedures and Confined Space procedures using Brady Link 360. • Support Operations on all incident investigations and lead the root cause analysis process to identify causal factors and actions to prevent recurrence. • Ensure medical case management processes are understood and followed for all injuries. • Directly support delivery of all HSE training for all levels of employees. • Lead plant HSE Committee Team efforts and continue to develop the HSE Team program. • Provide technical assistance and plant support for all Darigold's HSE programs as requested by the Plant Manager. • Visibly lead health and safety initiatives in the plant through planned audits, coaching sessions and daily walkthroughs. • Coordinate required industrial hygiene activities including noise dosimetry, sound level mapping, chemical monitoring and ergonomic evaluations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Professional communication skills and the ability to respond effectively to HSE compliance issues, inquiries, and/or complaints are of critical importance. Also, must be able to communicate clearly under pressure. Team leadership skills are also necessary. Must be highly visible in the plant and follow-through on commitments. • Analyze data, write, and submit reports. Must be able to maintain HSE compliance software systems and utilize data to drive continuous improvement. • Develop and deliver presentations on compliance topics to plant management, plant staff, and public groups when requested by the Vice President HSE. • Communicate technical and complex HSE concepts and requirements. A person in this position must be able to conduct technical training and engage employees in an effective learning experience. • Pursue and productively participate in continuing technical education as deemed necessary by the Vice President HSE & Plant Manager. Education, Experience, and Certifications: • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Health, Safety and Environment, Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Occupational Safety, or a related field. A combination of an associate degree and directly related HSE compliance experience may be considered. Other degree and/or experience combinations may also be considered. • Professional certification is desirable, but not required (Certified Safety Professional, Certified Safety & Health Manager, etc.). • 5 to 7 years of directly related experience in EHS compliance in the dairy foods processing industry is preferred but not required.
