Job Description Summary
This position works directly with children in the classroom under the supervision of the teacher. Employee assists the teacher in routine program activities, conducts learning and play activities with children in small groups, and performs other duties as assigned.
Job Description
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Assists the teacher in the classroom as directed. Distributes, arranges, and maintains teaching materials and equipment.
Provides care and protection for assigned children and assists the teacher in carrying out the daily program designed to meet the physical and developmental needs of groups of children.
Supervises children's play activities by participating with children in group games, enforcing safety rules, and encouraging children to develop positive social relationships with each other.
Works with the teacher to develop the potentialities of individual children. Bring to the attention of the teacher special problems in adjustment, learning, social interacting, or physical functioning of individual children.
Assists the children with routine activities such as naps, meals, bathroom, and dressing.
Assists the teacher with arranging the environment and prepares supplies for activities.
Attends staff meetings, training sessions, workshops, and conferences.
Responsible for office/clerical duties, end-of-day closing, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Ensure that Wisconsin Administrative code is maintained and adhered to during Operational Hours at the center.
Non-Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Performs general housekeeping duties in the Center such as keeping classroom activity areas in order.
Fill in for Teacher absences as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
High school Diploma or equivalent and a 40-hour Early Childhood class required.
Associate Degree in Early Childhood preferred.
One year of related work experience.
Obtain Infant/Child, AED, First Aid and CPR certification.
Complete Mandatory DCF Certification required to provide care to children.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:
Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of methods used in providing quality childcare.
Working knowledge of methods utilized in providing quality care, including theory and procedures.
Fingerprint based criminal background check as required by the Wisconsin Administrative Code for Child Care Center Licensing
A physical examination that was completed not more than 12 months prior to nor more than 30 days after hire. Signed and dated by a licensed physician, physician's assistant or other EPSDT provider indicating the person is free from illnesses detrimental to children including tuberculosis and that the person is physically able to work with young children.

Work Environment
Work must be completed in person.
Work is typically performed in a classroom.
Work Hours are based off children's contracts.
Work environment may change based upon college needs.
Physical Requirements
Fine Motor Skills: This role may need precise hand movements or manual dexterity for activities such as writing on a whiteboard, demonstrating experiments, or using instructional technology like computers.
Repetitive Motions: Capacity to perform repetitive motions, such as typing, without discomfort or injury.
Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with employees, candidates, and stakeholders, both in-person and through electronic means.

Additional Information
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour. Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data. Note: Internal applicants' wage will be based upon the applicable compensation guidelines.
