Job Description:

As a Senior Product Engineer - Cellular, you will be a core member of SEL's cellular and connected solutions team within R&D. Our team is focused on creating safe wirelessly connected solutions for mission critical and utility applications that require secure, rugged, industrial, robust communications to create and optimize situational awareness. As a Senior Product Engineer - Cellular, you will:

• Possess Cellular technologies subject matter expertise including but not limited to: 5G, 4G LTE, public cellular networks, Private LTE (pLTE) such as Anterix / Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS), and private network offerings from public carriers like FirstNet, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon.
  
  


• Possess technical capabilities in networking, firewalls, and perform detailed troubleshooting to resolve configuration issues.
  
  


• Develop relationships with internal and external customers to capture requirements and application specifications.
  
  


• Assist internal and external troubleshoot connectivity issues and configuration.
  
  


• Provide customer input back into Product Management to deliver voice of the customer
  
  


• Support SEL internal and external sales partners with technical questions and presentations.
  
  


• Influence Cellular connectivity roadmap.
  
  


• Guide product team on Cellular certification process to ensure compliance of our solutions.
  
  


• Validate hardware, firmware and integrated software solutions.
  
  


• Participate in writing technical papers, application guides, and instruction manuals.
  
  


• Attend industry technical meetings and conferences.
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field of study
  
  


• 3 or more years of experience in RF Engineering, Cellular Certification/ PTCRB / Lab Testing, and subject matter expertise in 4G LTE and 5G systems
  
  


• Experience or interest in communications and electric power systems
  
  


• Ability to interface with other Hardware Engineering, Firmware Engineering, Software Engineering to deliver solutions to the Market.
  
  


• Strong writing, technical documentation, speaking and presentation skills
  
  


• Familiarity with spectrum analyzer, oscilloscope, signal generator, multimeter
  
  


• Willing to travel up to 25%
  
  


• Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  
  


• Negative drug test result(s)
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of 4G LTE/5G cellular physical layer operation (3GPP) is beneficial
  
  


• Familiar with the working principles and features of USB2.0/3.0, mPCIe, PCIe, M.2 and other interfaces within a module
  
  


• Familiar with power management, USB HUB, and signal conversion
  
  


• Ability to interface with Cellular Carriers for lower level requirements of module and end device compliance
  
  


• Ability to review schematic diagrams and PCB layouts
  
  


• Proficiency with Python for automation or verification
  
  


• Experience with Cellular technologies and RF fundamentals
  
  


• Experience with packet capture tools like Wireshark
  
  


• Experience with networking and securing communications, such as IPSec, TLS, etc.
  
  


• An understanding of emerging cellular technology like pLTE/ Anterix, eSIM, iSIM, failover of networks, etc.

Pay Range Data
We anticipate filling this position as a Senior Product Engineer $100,900.00 - $168,100.00. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
