Salary: $80,000.00 USD Annually - $90,000.00 USD Annually

Description:

Role Title: Structural Project Engineer



Work Location: Hybrid in Raleigh, NC



Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Design structural foundations and ancillary structures for utility-scale wind, solar, transmission line, and substation projects.

  • Prepare or oversee the creation of structural design reports, specifications, and plans.

  • Review and approve project submittals and RFIs; support field activities during construction.

  • Provide professional and technical support across multiple Westwood projects.

  • Offer day-to-day support and input to internal and external Project Managers.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering from an ABET-accredited college.

  • EIT/FE or PE required; S.E. registration is a plus.

  • Minimum of 2 years of structural engineering work experience.

  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC 360, ACI 318).

  • Knowledge of shallow and deep foundations, including spread footings, slab-on-grade, piles, and concrete caissons.

  • Understanding of connection and anchorage design, such as cast-in-place, post-installed, welds, and high-strength bolts.

  • Experience with steel member design, including wide flange, channel, pipe, plate, and angle sections.

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.) is essential.

  • Proficiency with structural engineering software (e.g., Mathcad, STAAD, RISA, Enercalc, LPile) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of bridge design and evaluation is advantageous.

  • Background in geotechnical engineering, solar and wind energy, transmission and distribution, and substations is a plus.

  • AutoCAD drafting experience is a plus.

  • Effective verbal communication and technical writing skills.

  • Attention to detail and quality assurance in own and others' work.

  • Ability to use sound engineering judgment.

  • Effective time and workload management, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.

  • Minimal travel required.
