“A Day in the Life”
Under the supervision of the Production Manager, you will provide technical and supervisory support to construction staff. You will review plans and other technical documents, answer questions regarding the scope and/or timing of the project, monitor costs and project progress. May develop cost estimates and tentative schedules. In this position you will Supervise construction activities and ensure quality, code compliance, training, and individual and team performance. You will also provide leadership, direction and training to the Production Team Leads working with him/her in a construction based plant environment specializing in the maintenance, refurbishment and modification of modular buildings. You will be responsible for more than 35 modular construction workers in a production environment and directly accountable for their safety, quality of work and productivity.
“What You’ll Do”
Deliver quality modular construction projects on time and on budget
Hands-on Supervisor who spending most of your day working directly with Production Teams to monitor and establish daily work requirements
Maximize efficiency of construction processes by streamlining, reducing costs and implementing best practices where appropriate
Manage multiple construction groups working on multiple modification or repair on modular buildings
Oversee and supervise all construction activities; follow up to ensure assignments are completed appropriately
Ensure code and quality compliance of completed work in accordance with appropriate UBC, IBC, NEC, CBC, CPC, CEC, ADA and Fire, Life Safety
Ensure his/her area of responsibility operates within established standards, regulations and codes related to the operation of the manufacturing facility (including Department of Education, Division of State Architect, Department of Housing and Community Development, and Federal, State, County and Local requirements).
Work collectively with Production Team Leads developing and delivering performance reviews, feedback and coaching and employee development
Monitor employees for safe operations of tools and machinery and ensure Production Teams conduct necessary inspections and related safety activities
Ensure Production Teams maintain a clean and safe work area
Protect the Company’s investment in tools and equipment
Develop and promote a positive and efficient work environment
Lead the LEAN initiatives to support creating efficiencies in the work environment
Develop and maintain relationships with other managers and departments to support a cohesive team environment to serve the customer
Work collaboratively to assess and refine existing processes serving internal customers to maximize our ability to deliver value to our clients
Develop and/or provide weekly safety training and daily or weekly toolbox safety talks either directly or through Production Team Leads
Evaluate Team Members work progress throughout the year and presents their evaluation annually
“Must Haves”
Extensive knowledge of applicable building codes and construction methods
3 or more years prior hands-on experience in construction, remodeling, renovation or repairs and modifications to buildings, interior/exterior a plus
Knowledge of construction trades: Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC
Project management of projects lasting from one day to three months.
Prior experience implementing LEAN projects and other efficiency related methodologies
Track record of improving safety and safety procedures
Excellent abilities to prioritize and adjust schedules and instill a sense of urgency in team members while managing multiple projects
Aggressive, high-energy, can-do, get-results person with high integrity
Computer literate with computer skills in MS Office
BS degree or equivalent work experience of 5 or more years of experience in managing projects and people in a construction environment
3 or more years of work experience prior to management in a production, construction or related environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to coach and counsel other workers in a positive manner
Bilingual (English and Spanish) speaking and writing is a plus
Special Considerations:
Minimal travel for training or management meetings
Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain physical activity for most of the day
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects
Able to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder and other manual labor activities
