ROLE PURPOSE / POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Procurement Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective sourcing of raw materials and packaging for our customer's operational needs. This role requires a strong understanding of procurement best practices, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Deliverables range across key vendor management, short and long-term material cost savings initiatives, and materials management.
Accountable for strategy and plan to drive the optimization of controllable spend.
Provide direction/oversight for spend analytics.
Oversee and participate in the development and execution of category strategy and ensuring the use of the strategic sourcing process for the procurement of materials, components, and services.
Execute & provide strategic input to all defined strategic sourcing processes for commodity and drive utilization of tools and techniques that align to standardized processes Guide, assist development and execution of negotiation strategy for important or major procurement & supply chain contracts.
Monitor & ensure compliance through development and implementation of systems which measure, track, and analyze supplier and material effectiveness, price, and reliability.
Focus on development of strategic suppliers / "partners", and ensuring team is managing supplier relationships to drive ongoing cost reduction.
Ensure an effective contract management structure / framework is in place throughout the contract lifecycle.
Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers, leveraging volume and market insights to achieve cost savings.
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including production, quality assurance, and logistics teams, to ensure alignment on sourcing strategies and priorities.
Monitor market trends and supplier performance, proactively identifying risks and opportunities to optimize procurement processes.
Participate in the research, development, and design of long-range strategic objectives.
Provide daily, weekly and or monthly reports to internal and external shareholders, as well as participate in the monthly metrics review.
Identify, manage, and support loss reduction initiatives.
Accountable for departmental project deliverables. Secure and allocate appropriate resources and manage projects to meet goals and achieve financial objectives.
Interact positively with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
Leverage internal/external experts in network to accomplish goals.
Responsible for delivery of short-term and-long term results to develop and maintain the organization's credibility with our core customer base.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in related field - Desirable

Proven experience in procurement, vendor management, and cost optimization within the food manufacturing or related industry. - Essential

Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on sourcing raw materials and packaging ingredients in the food industry. - Essential
