We are partnered with an amazing client who are looking to bring on a Downstream Process Development Scientist in the Bay area. The role involves purifying therapeutic antibody drug candidates derived from human and mouse immune repertoires. The successful candidate will contribute to downstream process development and support material generation efforts as part of the company's Process Development team.
Responsibilities:
Design, optimize, and scale up purification processes for biologic candidates to support early-stage development.
Evaluate and interpret data to enhance technical understanding, achieve project goals, solve challenges, and recommend strategies that improve efficiency, deepen knowledge, and mitigate risk.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including upstream process development, analytical development, project management, and other key partners in antibody therapeutics development.
Work effectively with external collaborators and contract research organizations (CROs).
Coordinate tasks and timelines across functional groups and project teams.
Communicate experimental plans and results to project team members.
Draft, review, and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other technical documentation.
Experience:
Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience or Master's degree with 2+ years of experience.
Hands-on expertise in protein purification techniques, particularly chromatography; experience with antibody purification is a plus.
Skilled in developing methods and operating AKTA chromatographic systems (e.g., AKTA Avant, AKTA Purifier, AKTA Pure, AKTA Ready, or similar).
Strong foundation in scientific principles with excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills.
Capable of training others in fundamental laboratory techniques and equipment usage.
Experienced in developing and validating analytical methods.
