Responsibilities Responsible for setting up and operating manual or semiautomatic welding machines that weld together parts of fabricated metal products, as specified by layouts, welding procedures, and operating charts: welds cylindrical or irregular parts that may be clamped or otherwise positioned. Able to operate required machinery in the area. Understands proper quality weld standards, including slag removal. Visually examines welds for adherence to specifications; may grind welded surfaces. May position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jigs/fixtures. May operate other machine equipment to prepare components for welding. May help load trucks and containers and help prepare parts for shipments. Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 18 years of age. Able to communicate in English with team members (Speak and reading, writing ability required.) May be required to pass employer performance tests including pre-employment drug screening. Welding experience preferred. Possess a solid understanding of welding equipment and accessories. Able to weld in all positions with good penetration and quality. Able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level and square. Ability and willingness to follow directions as well as the ability to work independently requiring little or no supervision. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
Physical requirements include the ability to sit or stand for 8 to 10 hours at a time. Lift 25 lbs. repetitively. Exposure daily to continuous noise from machines. Exposure to intense light and hot materials.
