Overview

APP fellows will receive clinical and didactic education to gain hands-on experience while building a knowledge base across the continuum of oncology care, from early diagnosis through survivorship or end-of-life care. Clinical rotations encompass a variety of oncology subspecialties including hematologic malignancies, autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplant, CAR-T and other cellular therapies, and solid tumor malignancies, incorporating surgical, radiation and medical oncology, as well as supportive therapeutics such as palliative care and infectious disease. Our comprehensive approach to post-graduate education provides opportunity for professional development for the next generation of APP leaders.

The duties of this position include:

• Composed of comprehensive didactic & clinical curricula
  • rotations include solid tumor, hematologic malignancies and transplant (~36 weeks) with pre- and post-rotation knowledge assessments, student and preceptor evaluations.
• Twice monthly in-depth case presentations
• Once monthly case conference presentation
• Inter-professional education (walking in their shoes)
• Reflective journaling
• Participation in an APP-specific journal club
• Dedicated mentorship throughout the program
• Successful completion of required clinical hours with documented gains in clinical assessment skills, knowledge base, and professional stewardship
• Completion of a quality/performance improvement initiative
• Submission of a professional abstract or manuscript for presentation or publication
• Presentation of a M&M discussion at the division level Grand Rounds

Responsibilities

We accept two applicants for the program each year. By the start of the program, successful applicants must:

• Be U.S. citizens or legally able to work in the U.S
• Have completed an accredited PA or NP master’s program
• ACLS/BLS certification

Nurse Practitioner:

• Valid State of Oregon Registered Nurse license
• Current Nurse Practitioner license for the state of Oregon
• State of Oregon Nurse Practitioner Prescriptive Privileges
• Recommend membership in a professional nursing organization

Physician Assistant:

• Valid State of Oregon Physician Assistant license
• Current Physician Assistant license for the State of Oregon
• State of Oregon Licensure under CHH MD, Recommend membership in a professional organization.
