Job Summary



Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Provides instructional support and guidance to faculty and academic units within the Jacobs School of Music.
  • Provides long-term planning for educational and curricular projects and initiatives related to music instruction within the Jacobs School of Music.
  • Coordinates music instruction resources and projects within the CITL.
  • Directs outreach to departments, offices, and external constituencies in relation to music instruction and CITL programs and services, including support for on-campus and online music instruction within the Jacobs School of Music.
  • Keeps abreast of evidence-based practices and scholarship on music instruction, and conducts and supports research as appropriate.
  • Participates in regular meetings with other members of the Music Information Technology Team (Desktop/user support, Multimedia specialists, Software engineers).
General Responsibilities
  • Provides support and guidance to faculty in both individual and group settings regarding instructional support, pedagogical practice, classroom management, and federal regulations like FERPA and Title IX.
  • Determines additional support needs through consultation and designs resources to meet educational support needs.
  • Participates in educational resources initiatives in coordination with faculty and staff to improve student academic outcomes and improve classroom experience.
  • Trains teaching assistants, associate instructors, and graders in grading methods, responding appropriately to student concerns, and resolving complex issues.
  • Plans seminars, workshops, and other events for faculty, associate instructors, and students, as requested and appropriate by faculty.
  • Advances programs from individual consultations/workshops to larger-scale transformative events/projects when appropriate.
  • May oversee student testing administration and consult regularly with students regarding coordination of educational resources.
  • May serve as an informational resource and/or delegate tasks to administrative staff.

EDUCATION



Required



  • Bachelor's degree in Music or related field


Preferred



  • Master's degree in Music or related field

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • 2 years in related field


Preferred



  • 5 years of experience in educational development/consulting on music instruction

  • Experience with learning management systems and other instructional, music, and audio/video technologies

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
