This position cleans and maintains district leased or owned facilities. Performs minor maintenance, room setups and moves. Second Shift M-F 2:00pm - 5:30pm
Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Clean offices, classrooms, restrooms, kitchens, cafeteria, elevators, storerooms, lobbies, hallways, vestibules and other areas of the college facilities following established routines, standards and procedures. Utilize hand tools, powered equipment, chemicals, and cleaning agents and technology to assist in the carrying out of job functions.
Set up and take down furnishings and equipment for functions/meetings per customer requests. Information obtained through work order system.
Move and assemble furniture and modular work stations following written directions and/or manufacturer's schematics.
Maintain entrances and immediate exterior area for cleanliness and safety, removing, waste, snow, ice, leaves, etc.
Dispose of waste, recyclables and other items following established governmental regulations and district policy. Some waste may be hazardous (i.e. body fluids, chemicals, battery fluids, science lab wastes).
Perform general building maintenance, such as light bulb replacements, ceiling tile replacements, minor repairs, installation of dispensers, hanging pictures, and signage.
Perform on a project basis, hard floor care including deep scrubbing, recoating, stripping, and applying finish; carpet care including spot cleaning and extraction, painting, and staff relocation.
Perform building security functions for the college including opening and securing buildings, labs, shops, and offices. Test fire alarms in all buildings.
Respond to emergencies such as, fire, flood, power outages, code blue, bomb threats, and severe/unexpected weather, and evacuate students and staff.
Perform general maintenance of tools and equipment used to perform custodial duties following manufacturer's recommendations including daily cleaning equipment, filter changes, belt replacements, checking battery fluid levels and electrical cords.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Perform other related departmental duties such as delivery of supplies, unload trucks, deliver/pick up mail, check generators, reset boilers etc. May require vehicle and equipment use (van, truck, tow motor, lawn mower, snow blower, plow, etc.).
Trains and oversees student employees, new employees, volunteers and contract cleaning services.
Collect monies from restroom vending machines as needed.
Receive, store and inventory custodial supplies and equipment, and maintain storage areas.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalency, AND
One year current work experience in custodial/maintenance related field, OR
An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
Valid driver's license required.
Subject to FVTC's Motor Vehicle Disclosure Records Check
Lift truck operator certification is desired.
Ability to constantly lift up to 10 lbs.; occasionally push and carry up to 70 lbs.; and, occasionally lift 25 to 90 lbs.
Ability to frequently bend, kneel, reach, stand and walk.

Additional Information
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour.
