POSITION SUMMARY



Responsible for implementing McCownGordon's health, safety, and environmental management program across multiple project sites and the Business Unit. Ensure a safe work environment for all associates, trade partners, and visitors to our various construction sites. A safety manager will work collaboratively with their team(s) to ensure safety success on our projects and be a senior resource for at the project, Business Unit, and company level.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES




Field/ Management Support



  • Provides safety oversight, leadership, and direction in the implementation of our safety program across multiple project sites and/or the Business Unit.


  • Runs multiple project tasks by being a detail orientated and organized leader.


  • Uses teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving skills for the project and Business Unit.


  • Provides and/or assists in loss trend analysis of project(s) and the Business Unit.


  • Assists and/or leads incident investigations and management procedures for project teams and Business Unit.


  • Ensures pre-planning of High-Risk Activities meets company expectations.





Compliance



  • Interprets and communicates McCownGordon policies to associates and outside parties effectively.


  • Works with project teams and the Business Unit to ensure Injury Management and Return to Work practices are in line with company expectations.


  • Leads project teams in managing compliance risks with regulatory agencies.


  • Understands company standards outside of the safety discipline (HR, Quality, Legal, etc.).


  • Addresses and implements the proper action for all hazardous action in the field immediately.





Leadership



  • Provides safety leadership and encouragement to all levels within the project and Business Unit.


  • Meets commitments, functions with a high level of integrity.


  • Holds project leaders accountable to commitments and expectations. Elevates concerns as necessary.


  • Demonstrates emotional intelligence and calibrates response to the situation.


  • Mentors associates and trade partners in safety.


  • Relates to all levels of the Business Unit and project teams.


  • Maintains professional demeanor under duress.


  • Assesses and delivers on the development of others. Takes personal responsibility for the development of others.





Technical Expertise and Training



  • Identifies gaps in company policies and provide solutions to address them.


  • Maintains knowledge of construction safety, OSHA, ANSI, and other applicable standards and procedures.


  • Works with client safety personnel, Insurance risk engineers, and trade partner safety professionals in both the project level and Business Unit level.


  • Communicates technical information across the Business Unit, McCownGordon, and trade partners.


  • Combines knowledge and experience with sound judgement when advising on policy and decision making.


  • Acts as a solution-based resource for safety related information.


  • Recognizes and addresses project and Business Unit training deficiencies.


  • Creates, edits, updates, and improves training content.


  • Coordinates and conducts training for multiple projects and the Business Unit.


  • Encourages training completion for all required positions.





MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements before going into job)


  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, Safety, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience


  • 7+ years of experience working in the safety field, or related field.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications


  • Valid driver's license





WORKING CONDITIONS



The position requires work in an office environment.
