Our Mission
The mission of The Children's Council is to support, endorse, and help establish programs and projects that enhance the health, development, and well-being of the children of Lancaster County, SC.

Position Overview
The Early Childhood Director is responsible for leading, implementing, and supervising The Children's Council's Early Childhood Programs, including ParentChild+ and Baby Blocks. This role requires leadership, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality services to families. The Early Childhood Director will work collaboratively with staff, families, and community stakeholders to ensure the programs operate effectively and align with the organization's mission.

Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation and Supervision:
  • Implement ParentChild+ and Baby Blocks programs with fidelity to their respective models.
  • Plan, develop, and individualize family programs that support children's development and family well-being.
  • Conduct and supervise home visits, fostering a supportive relationship with families.

Family and Child Engagement:
  • Build on family strengths and honor the cultural, racial, and socioeconomic diversity of families.
  • Provide families with resources to support cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development of children.
  • Facilitate family literacy services and promote family-to-family support networks.

Staff Leadership and Development:
  • Supervise, coach, and support home visitors and other program staff.
  • Organize weekly staff meetings and conduct regular one-on-one supervision.
  • Promote professional growth and ensure team alignment with program goals.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with community organizations to connect families with local resources.
  • Represent The Children's Council in community events and partnerships.

Administrative Duties:
  • Oversee program budgets, purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Collect and analyze program data, submitting reports to grantors as required.
  • Ensure program compliance with all organizational and grant requirements.

Qualifications
Required Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong decision-making, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Mastery of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office platforms.
  • Proficiency in Canva or similar tools for creative tasks.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and promote inclusion.

Educational and Professional Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, early childhood education, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in program management.
  • At least 3 years experience in early childhood development.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Comfort with extended periods of standing or sitting as required by program activities.

Benefits
  • Salary Range: $43,000-$45,000 annually.
  • Medical Benefits: $6,500 package.
  • Paid Time Off: Vacation, holidays, and medical leave.
