Job Description:

-Sr. Business Intelligence Administrator

-10+ years of total professional experience required & 5+ years of professional Business Intelligence subject matter experience

-US Citizenship or Green Card Holder required because this is supporting the Department of Transportation and will require a Public Trust clearance

-2x days per week onsite in Washington DC (Navy Yard) and 3x days per week remote

-Compensation: $70/hour W2 pay

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and technology agnostic Sr. Systems Administrator specializing in Tableau, SAS, and Socrata to oversee and optimize the daily operations, maintenance, and performance of our data analytics platforms. This role will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of these systems while supporting business objectives through efficient data management and analytics. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise and strong problem-solving skills, with a commitment to delivering an exceptional user experience and will thrive in a fast-paced, evolving, and team-first environment.

Top Qualifications, Skills, Experience or Certifications:
• Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience providing Service Management System administration services.
• Minimum 5+ years of systems administration experience with Tableau Server, SAS, and Socrates.
• Proven experience in managing enterprise-level analytics and BI platforms.
• Must have experience managing SMS development activities and be proficient in applying the SDLC and DevOps principles.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or PowerShell.
• Solid understanding of data security, SSL/TLS certificate management, and encryption.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar IT service management tools.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and database management for performance tuning.
• Experience with cloud-based environments and virtualized server management is preferred.

Job Role Specific Requirements:

Core responsibilities and duties; highlight day-to-day activities:

1. Install, configure, and maintain Tableau, SAS (both SAS 9.4 and SAS Viya), and Socrata environments.

2. Perform regular system updates, patching, and upgrades to ensure system security and compatibility.

3. Proactively monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.

4. Manage user roles, permissions, and access levels to ensure data security and regulatory compliance.

5. Implement SSL certificates and secure authentication protocols to safeguard access to systems and data.

6. Support end-users on best practices, data access, and troubleshooting.

7. Conduct regular system audits and implement best practices for data security, adhering to organizational security standards and industry regulations.

8. Ensure that all data in transit and at rest is encrypted as needed, working with security teams to harden systems against unauthorized access.

9. Develop and maintain scripts for automating routine tasks, backups, monitoring, and system health checks.

10. Utilize Python, Shell, and PowerShell scripts to streamline operations and enhance process efficiency.

11. Work closely with data teams to optimize report generation, data loading times, and resource allocation across platforms.

12. Serve as the point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving complex issues within the Tableau, SAS, and Socrata environments.

13. Coordinate with IT and vendor support teams for timely issue resolution and escalation.

14. Lead projects related to system enhancements, upgrades, and migrations, including SAS 9.4 to SAS Viya.

15. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Data Engineering, BI, IT Security) to align system configurations with business needs.

16. Create and maintain documentation on system configuration, processes, and user guides for cross-departmental sharing.

17. Develop and monitor dashboards to track system health, usage, and critical alerts.

18. Generate and distribute regular reports on system performance, usage statistics, and incident logs to key stakeholders.

Preferred skills and qualifications:

1. Tableau Server Certified Associate or Professional or SAS Certified Platform Administrator for SAS 9 or Viya.

2. Certifications in cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure) or security (e.g., CISSP) are a plus.
