Primary Role:

The IT Specialist at ORIGIN will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing the company's IT infrastructure, ensuring efficient operations, and supporting both technical and end-user needs. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, supporting ERP/PLM/MRP/SFC systems, implementing security protocols, and providing day-to-day IT support to employees across various departments, including manufacturing, logistics, and corporate.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support
  • Provide on-site and remote technical support to employees users by diagnosing and correcting problems with computers, networks, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Manage IT service requests and ensure timely resolution while maintaining accurate documentation of issues and solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with users and vendors of varying technical expertise to diagnose problems, provide solutions, and clarify technical issues.

System Maintenance & Management
  • Install, configure, and maintain company hardware and software systems, including servers, desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and other tech equipment both virtually and in person.
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
  • Oversee and update operating systems, software applications, and security patches.
  • Operate standard office equipment and assist with the setup and maintenance of office technology.

Data Security & Compliance
  • Implement and monitor IT security measures to protect data integrity and prevent unauthorized access or breaches.
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies and data protection regulations, including managing backup and disaster recovery solutions.

User Training & Support
  • Conduct training sessions for employees on software use, security best practices, and other IT-related topics to enhance productivity and data security awareness.
  • Create user-friendly guides and FAQs for common issues and software applications.

IT Project Support
  • Assist in IT-related projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments, to enhance company operations.
  • Work closely with other departments to understand IT needs and propose effective solutions.

Asset Management
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all IT hardware, software, and licenses.
  • Ensure proper lifecycle management of IT assets, including deployment, repair, upgrades, and decommissioning.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience considered.

Experience:

Minimum 2-3 years of experience in an IT support role, preferably within a manufacturing or logistics environment.
  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure components, including computer networking principles and device management platforms.
  • Proficiency in software troubleshooting across various platforms.
  • Experience with desktop support tasks, including hardware setup and configuration.
  • Knowledge of incident management tools.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • A proactive attitude towards learning new technologies and improving existing processes.
  • Be available to work flexible hours when necessary to accomplish critical system tasks or handle urgent IT issues.

Skills:
  • Good communicator and collaborator, both technically and non-technically.
  • Strong knowledge of network management, troubleshooting, and configuration.
  • Proficiency with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with cybersecurity best practices and data protection protocols.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Office 365, Monday.com, Slack, ERP systems, and other cloud-based solutions is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with network monitoring tools, device management tools, and endpoint security software.
  • Experience administering and supporting enterprise resource planning, product lifecycle management, materials resource planning, and shop floor control tools.
  • Certification such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA/CCDA, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) is a plus.

Work Location:
  • In person: Asheboro, NC
  • Travel on occasion
  • On-Call for Emergency Response

Schedule:
  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Monday to Friday
