Job Description:

Position Summary

Reporting to a Senior Engineer, the Technician will have responsibility for key aspects of ABS' product

manufacturing and research & development processes. Engineering Technician responsibilities include

performing research, building devices (production and prototypes) and inspecting products at the direction

of senior engineer and management. Incumbent will perform moderate to complex technical engineering

tasks related to the design development of medical device, creation of design development documentation,

specifications, product testing and inspections with a good degree of independence. The incumbent will

aid senior engineer by communicating effectively to troubleshoot technical issues and design models for

new products and equipment.

Qualifications

Community college, undergraduate degree or equivalent education and 0-3 years of professional

experience, including functional operational experience in the medical devices sector is preferred (ideally

in the cardiology field). Familiarity with data modeling tools and software is preferred.

Responsibilities

Engineering technician will fulfill several job duties during their workday with an overall objective of

assuring that product output: (i) meets or exceeds all quality system requirements; (ii) meets productivity

standards; and (iii) is efficient with respect to the utilization of ABS' resources. Job responsibilities include:
• Drive production by participating in all stages of the manufacturing process.
• Work with engineer(s) and staff to ensure production is efficient and drive improvements, as necessary.
• Assess the quality of products and identify any defects.
• Collaborate with the quality assurance department to assist with testing and/or inspection of raw materials,

components, and finished devices at the incoming, in-process, and final stages of production.
• Create drawings and schematics using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
• Review drawings, and update as necessary, to ensure accurate specifications for components, subcomponents, raw-materials, and finished devices.
• Troubleshoot problems that arise with tools/machinery and coordinate necessary repairs.
• Conduct experiments and investigations under the guidance of senior engineer and management.
• Ensure availability of required materials, tools, and machinery for production/manufacturing.
• Ensure products meet safety and quality control requirements.

Physical Demands

Requires dexterity i.e., the ability to use fine motor functions to piece unique materials together to

accurately assemble and manufacture devices. Requires some lifting and moving of up to 40 pounds. Required to frequently stand, walk, sit, for extended periods. May also require use of a computer for extended periods. Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close/distant vision and depth perception. Position also requires use of Personal Protective Equipment.
