Blue Harlan is the recruiting arm to this growing (90+ employees) commercial general contractor providing services to companies and developers within the Twin Cities.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for appropriately evaluating the cost of a project, and evaluating the cost to take on that project. The candidate will be familiar with our competitive advantages as an organization and will be able to communicate those to our benefit throughout the bidding process.
Responsibilities, at a minimum:
Determine scope and perform quantity takeoffs for construction trades including but not limited to: demolition, earthwork, concrete, masonry, steel, carpentry, finishes, mechanical and electrical.
Assist with pricing labor, material and equipment using historic data, past-experience, subcontractor, supplier and rental firm pricing.
Prepare accurate estimates for small projects.
Prepare cost analysis to include equipment, general conditions, materials and labor under the leadership of senior estimating staff.
Subcontractor solicitation
Work closely with operations and senior level estimators on subcontractor analysis and buyout processes on negotiated projects.
Develop and execute plans to continuously improve subcontractor relationships.
Keep senior level estimators informed of key issues/opportunities that impact project success.
Identify training and/or development opportunities that will assist them in achieving enhanced job performance and/or career objectives.
Respond to and complete all other duties, tasks and/or projects as assigned.
Maintain vendor database
Education and Experience: • A 4-year degree or industry equivalency in architecture, engineering or construction is desired • 2+ years of direct construction experience is preferred • Strong communication and documentation skills • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems • Capable of initiating and coordinating activities independently • Positively represent our brand and develop strong relationships with customers and team members • Must be team-oriented and flexible in assuming new responsibilities as they arise • Proficiency in MS Office software; Word, Excel, Project
