About Uniting Voices Lexington:

Helmed by Dr. Michael Preacely and launched in 2023, Uniting Voices Lexington is a nonprofit organization that empowers and unites youth from diverse backgrounds to find their voice and celebrate their common humanity through the power of music. Through a city-wide vocal ensemble for students in grades 6-12, Uniting Voices Lexington embraces the diversity of the Blue Grass region and equips youth with 21st-century essential skills to become global citizens. The program is the first outside of Chicago for Uniting Voices, an organization founded at the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement to foster understanding between youth of all races, ethnicities, religions, socioeconomic backgrounds, gender identities, sexual orientations and lived experiences.

Opportunity:

The Development & Administration Manager inspires advocacy secures financial resources for Uniting Voices Lexington, and manages the organization's overall financial position. This person oversees the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors, including local advisory board development and management. They manage the program's full development activity, including individual donors, foundations, corporate giving, event planning, and government relations. In addition to working closely with Founder and Artistic Director Dr. Michael Preacely, they collaborate with Uniting Voices' Director of Development and leverage the organization's existing support system based in Chicago. This is a part-time role estimated at ~15 hours per week with variance depending on time of year.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Plan and lead local advisory council meetings, in partnership with Dr. Michael Preacely
  • Increase philanthropic support for Uniting Voices Lexington, enabling the program's planned growth over its first five years.
  • Oversee the fundraising activities of Uniting Voices Lexington, including special events, individual, corporate and foundation giving
  • Identify donor prospects and opportunities for cultivating new relationships
  • Ensure the program's case for support and fundraising activities are aligned with the needs and expectations of the Lexington community
  • Guide the preparation of appropriate solicitation materials and impact reporting
  • Assist the Artistic Director by representing organization externally, as necessary, for cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of donors
  • Guide fundraising-related communications, including multi-channel appeal campaigns and regular updates to funders
  • Work with Program Manager to coordinate in-kind support and programming partnerships
  • Maintain accounts and log activities in Salesforce
  • Manage revenue and expenses against organizational budget
  • Understand and effectively communicate the program's financial position

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This role is budgeted at $20,000-22,000 annually. Uniting Voices observes several holidays and school breaks. Part-time employees are eligible for select benefits only.
