Job Title: Design Project Manager
Responsibilities:
Work closely with Kemp's preconstruction team and our Director of Design Build.
Lead the design phase of construction projects, collaborating with architects, engineers, and clients to develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure design deliverables meet project requirements, codes, and standards.
Manage the design process from conception to completion, including conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
Facilitate communication between design teams, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of design and construction activities.
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
Conduct regular design reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with project specifications and client expectations.
Foster a collaborative and innovative design culture within the organization, promoting continuous improvement and excellence in design execution.
Serve as the primary point of contact for design-related inquiries, clarifications, and change requests throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior design team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including design revisions, correspondence, and approvals, to support project transparency and accountability.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field.
10+ years of experience in design build and preconstruction.
Understanding of design and preconstruction sides of construction.
Proven experience as a design project manager in the construction industry, with a strong track record of successful project delivery.
Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Project.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
Strong understanding of construction methods, building codes, and regulations, with a keen eye for detail and quality.
Leadership abilities with a focus on team collaboration, creativity, and results-driven performance.
PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
