Job Description:

GMA Construction Group is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in the construction industry. The ideal candidate shall have 7+ years of construction experience as a Project Manager.

We are looking for a seasoned Construction Project Manager to manage organization of key client projects. Project management responsibilities include delivering every project on time within budget and scope. Project managers should have a background in construction management, cost management, analysis and estimating. The ideal candidate must be skilled at getting the best out of the people and projects that they oversee. They thrive when planning projects and working with project teams.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating construction projects according to predetermined timeliness and budgets. Building and managing project teams, client reporting, and ensuring quality control throughout the project life cycle.
  • Manage Project Development from inception to close out.
  • Be accountable for project results.
  • Work with project client and stakeholders to complete project charter outlining scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget and timing.
  • Conduct weekly team status/progress meeting(s) with team and stakeholders.
  • Complete work breakdown structure to estimate effort required per task.
  • Provide a project schedule to identify when each task will be performed.
  • Clearly communicate expectations to team members and stakeholders.
  • Act as a mediator between stakeholders and team members.
  • Resolve any issues and/or solve problems throughout project life cycle.
  • Effectively manage project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved wit project change request forms.
  • Determine if external consultants or contractors will be required to complete project plans. If required, recruit and manage appropriate staffing resources.
  • Track and report project milestones and provide status reports to client.
  • Lead, coach and motivate project team members on a proactive basis.
  • Determine how results will be measured and complete a post-project evaluation to determine how well results were achieved.
  • Develop tools and best practices for project management and execution.
  • "Safely Crash" unsuccessful of "Re-Prioritized" projects.
  • Ensure all project documents are organized and archived following project completion.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management from an accredited University and/or College.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Construction - Project Management of Heavy Civil, Commercial, Construction with Federal and State sector projects.
  • Must be able to perform estimates and quantity take-offs using appropriate software
  • Familiarity with Project Management tools and/or software package (SAGE 100 software a plus)
  • Demonstrate leadership management skills.
  • Rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
  • Experience developing/working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • PMP Certification is an asset but not required.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from Senior Management and other departments.
