Job Description:

The Infotainment Product Planner and Technical Specialist will be responsible for planning, developing, and managing the lifecycle of our infotainment product line. This role will include market research, competitive analysis, product roadmap planning, and the creation of technical documentation to support both internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate has a strong background in in-vehicle infotainment or consumer electronics and is skilled in translating technical details into clear, user-friendly language.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Planning and Strategy
  • Develop and execute the product roadmap for infotainment systems based on market trends, competitive analysis, and customer needs.
  • Work closely with engineering, sales, and marketing teams to define product requirements, features, and specifications.
  • Conduct research to identify market opportunities, potential partnerships, and new technologies within the mobile audio and infotainment space.
  • Oversee product lifecycle management, from concept and development to launch and end-of-life strategies.

2. Third-Party Integration and Certifications
  • Identify and coordinate with third-party technology partners for integrating essential infotainment functionalities (e.g., Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, ADAS, CAN bus, UART, Wi-Fi, SXM, NEMA, etc.).
  • Manage certifications and compliance processes for third-party software and hardware integrations, ensuring that all products meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee partnership agreements and licensing requirements, facilitating collaboration to ensure seamless integration of third-party technologies.
  • Work with legal and regulatory teams to secure necessary certifications and approvals, including safety and emission standards as applicable.

3. Validation and Testing of Third-Party Integrations
  • Design and oversee validation and testing protocols for third-party integrations to ensure optimal performance, compatibility, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with QA and engineering teams to conduct rigorous testing for infotainment features, including functional, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in third-party integrations, working closely with vendors and in-house technical teams.
  • Document and maintain testing results, ensuring traceability and continuous improvement in product performance.

4. Technical Documentation and Communication
  • Suggest improvements to our technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, troubleshooting guides, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to ensure documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and user-friendly.
  • Develop training materials and technical resources for use by internal teams, installers, and technical support.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries from sales teams, distributors, and other external stakeholders.

5. Market Research and Competitive Analysis
  • Conduct ongoing market research to stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and customer preferences in the infotainment space.
  • Analyze competitor products to identify strengths, weaknesses, and unique selling points, and apply findings to inform product planning.
  • Compile market research findings and insights into reports and presentations for senior leadership.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with engineering, product development, sales, and marketing to ensure alignment on product goals and objectives.
  • Participate in regular meetings with cross-functional teams to provide updates on product planning, technical communication, and documentation progress.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and marketing to support clear, effective communication of product features and benefits.

7. Support Sales and Marketing Initiatives
  • Partner with the sales and marketing teams to develop product launch strategies, training materials, and sales support documentation.
  • Assist in creating content for digital and print marketing materials that require technical accuracy.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and events to gather insights and represent the company's infotainment products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering, Marketing, Product Management, Technical Writing, or related field; MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in product planning, product management, or technical communications within the automotive, car audio, or consumer electronics industry.
  • Strong technical writing skills, with experience creating user manuals, product documentation, and technical guides.
  • Knowledge of automotive infotainment technologies, car audio systems, and user interface design principles.
  • Experience in managing third-party technology integrations, certifications, and vendor relationships.
  • Familiarity with validation and testing protocols for automotive or electronics products.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and processes, with experience managing product lifecycles and timelines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into user-friendly language.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with digital and online content creation, such as video tutorials or training modules.
  • Understanding of automotive, marine, power sports, and/or agricultural standards and regulatory requirements related to infotainment systems.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) for creating documentation and marketing materials.
  • Passion for mobile audio, infotainment technology, and the automotive industry.
