Union position that operates, monitors, and maintains natural gas liquefaction, boil-off and vaporization process systems for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant. As operational needs dictates (~45 days/yr.), the position requires working a single person rotating shifts encompassing holidays and weekends. Outside of these operational needs, the schedule will be normal working hours, M-F. Additional functions include keeping up to date records required by DOT 193 and NFPA 59A (operating procedures and records, all security/hazard manuals, and personnel requirements). Works with high pressure gas, cryogenic liquids (-260 degrees), high temperature machinery, high electrical voltage (4160 volts), combustion chambers and at elevated heights.
Essential Functions:
Representative Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, operates, maintains, repairs and calibrates all types of equipment and instrumentation that is associated with the production, storage, transfer, vaporization, and odorization of LNG.
Performs LNG facility safety and security functions, as required.
Monitors and takes appropriate action to maintain design conditions on the LNG processing equipment.
Monitors and operates associated automated systems to retrieve and send informational data utilized within the department's operation.
Performs other related departmental duties, as required.
May assist the LNG Operator (1st Class) and LNG Operator (Master) in more specialized work.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED is required. Some College is highly recommended.
Flexibility to work ROTATING SHIFTS, including weekends and holidays.
Successfully complete an annual medical fitness examination.
Successfully complete an annual LNG training and testing program.
Critical thinking skills with the ability to make sound decisions in an extremely fast paced environment.
Communication skills (written and verbal).
Math skills are necessity.
All employees in this classification are required to ascend to the LNG Operator position. Employees may for this promotion after 12 months in the classification. All employees must successfully pass the LNG Operator test within 3 years.
