Position: Chemical Substance Regulation Consultant
Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Duration: 6 Months
Key Responsibilities
Surveil, Analyze, and summarize critical material or chemical substance related regulation and legislative activity, with particular focus on non-U.S. related themes.
Coordinate the surveillance and broadcast of critical material or chemical substance related legislation and regulation to the business
Examples:
Create and distribute "alerts" to key internal stakeholders.
Input regulatory/legislative summaries into internal company software.
Using various tools, coordinate the tracking of substances being pursued by local and global regulatory or legislative bodies throughout the regulatory/legislative timeline.
Advocate on behalf of client with key North American agencies (via trade associations) on extended producer responsibility (EPR) regulatory or legislative topics that involve material or chemical substances.
Internally coordinate and develop client advocacy position on critical EPR related topics
Potential future collaboration with other client global affiliates
Occasional special advocacy or compliance projects may be requested, depending on available time.
Requirements:
A successful candidate will have:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working with consumer products industries, especially complex durable goods industries.
Working knowledge and understanding of global material or chemical substance regulations and legislations which may impact the auto industry.
Demonstrated analytical and reporting skills, such as issuance of reports to communicate technical matters to stakeholders.
Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong communication skills, verbal and written
Problem solver with a customer-first approach and excellent interpersonal skills
