Director of Domestic Pricing is responsible for providing strategic leadership and development of the Pricing and Sourcing team. This role will oversee all aspects of the domestic truckload pricing strategies and process, from customer bid management and contract negotiation to system rating structures. Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement data-driven pricing strategies that optimize win rates and margins. Source transportation from current and new suppliers, enable growth from cost-competitive sourcing.
Director of Domestic Pricing Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Lead and develop the Pricing and Sourcing team (hire, train, assign workload, provide feedback, develop KPIs, performance management, career development)
Perform analysis to identify and support lane and pricing strategies within and outside of the bid team in order to maximize long-term margin growth
Recommend pricing strategy changes monthly to Leadership for approval
Utilize market knowledge and analyze data trends to develop and measure pricing strategies
Responsible for the pricing of all incoming bids and providing analytical support to increase and improve anticipated cost model
Oversee bid process, working cross-functionally with Sales and Operations teams
Manage awards through frequent reviews of award volumes and performance against expected volumes, service and margins
Oversee sourcing transportation in new lanes to enable growth; Lead the charge on loser lanes by focusing resources on new carriers and making recommendations on pricing changes needed with customers to Sales.
Ensure that all Domestic freight contracts are completed and entered into system
Proactively interact with Sales and Operations to ensure focus on contracts with upcoming start and expiration dates
Develop, implement and maintain pricing processes and policies for continual process improvement, recommend changes in pricing structure/methodology, and apply consistent processes and operating procedures to implement pricing changes and gain maximum efficiencies.
Work to create a feedback loop to enhance pricing tools and future pricing of bids and spot tools.
Collaborate with the technology team to ensure our pricing tools meet evolving business needs and streamlines pricing processes.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation or equivalent combination of education and work experience
8+ years' Domestic transportation logistics experience across all modes of transportation
5+ years of direct 3rd Party non-asset domestic pricing
5+ years' experience in a management level role leading and directing the work of others
Deep understanding of the transportation marketplace and a proven track record of developing and implementing effective pricing strategies
Extensive knowledge and experience with pricing software and online bidding sites; experience in pricing tool development a plus
Experience working with Data Analytics tools preferred; Power BI a plus
Strong quantitative analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make fact-based decisions or recommendations.
Ability to motivate, coach, and develop others, as well as influence a group of people to achieve common goals, and implement organizational strategies and change
Skilled in effectively presenting information at all levels
Ability to collaborate with other leaders across the supply chain and business to identify opportunities and drive improvements
Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with people at all levels of the organization
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude, providing unmatched customer service and maintaining discretion on confidential matters
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in entire Microsoft Office suite required
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently; Other languages a plus
