Atlas Roof Shingles & Underlayments is seeking a Claim Laboratory Technician for the Hampton GA facility.
The Claim Laboratory Technician is responsible for assisting in the lab to help with material analysis, and implementation that allows Atlas to remain competitive in the Shingles and Underlayment market. The role will analyze product performance through lab analysis and work to improve performance and quality while driving costs down. This role will be responsible for overseeing and testing raw materials and finished products, as well as assisting, when needed, Manufacturing with process improvement. Must have strong analytical skills and communication skills. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Provide inspection and testing of finished products and raw materials to ensure they meet Atlas' Specifications as required.
May help in the training employees on specific test methods and equipment.
Input data in the computer as to specification requirements.
Input data into Microsoft products and Minitab
Assist in the Competitive & Sister Audits, when time allows.
Maintain lab equipment, scales and equipment on the manufacturing floor that are required for quality testing. Responsible for cleaning of testing materials, beakers, SP apparatus, etc. Keeping the lab in good working order and tidy.
Perform testing for all Products.
Assist in the design and implementation of new products.
Participate in project teams to improve quality, process, or performance on roofing products.
Adhere to all Safety guidelines and wear proper PPE
Travel as needed but it will be around 10%.
Claim Laboratory Technician Skills & Duties:
Proficient in the knowledge and use of personal computer equipment, office hardware, and certain lab equipment.
Understanding of lab testing and the ability to evaluate data acquired through the testing process.
Strong analytical chemistry background.
Able to train, direct and influence the actions of others.
Must have exceptional communication and analytical skills.
Analyze information and make decisions based on knowledge of the process and products being manufactured.
Possesses the knowledge of the R&D laboratory processes and familiar with Manufacturing process.
Microsoft programs, MiniTab, and other programs exclusive to R&D and Quality Assurance.
Claim Laboratory Technician Education and Experience
High School education or equivalent.
Some college or an associate's degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
