CSEA, a New York labor union, is seeking resumes for a Private Sector Specialist based in our Latham, NY office with statewide responsibility. Reporting to the Director of Organizing/Private Sector the overall responsibilities include, union building, internal organizing, and campaign development in areas that impact private sector members. The position works closely with Organizers and Labor Relations Specialists to negotiate first contracts and identify workplace issues that arise in private sector Locals of CSEA. Specific duties include: leading negotiations for first contracts; actively work with membership to identify and develop new leaders and activists; coordinate programs and actions that address issues confronting members; help set up and coordinate contract ratification votes; schedule and assist in conducting training for new private sector locals; coordinate or assist with meetings of the Regional Private Sector Advisory Committees and any Private Sector Division meeting.
Starting salary is $73,409 with excellent benefits including health, vision, and dental coverage; salary progression; transportation stipend plus mileage reimbursement; generous paid time off and defined pension and 401K plan.
Qualifications: High school diploma and Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Institution in Labor Studies, Industrial Labor Relations, or other related field as determined by CSEA,Inc. OR
3 years experience in any one, or combination of the following areas: union organizing, community organizing, labor relations or political campaigns. OR An acceptable combination of education, training and experience as determined by CSEA. Must have a valid New York State drivers' license and car for business.
