Position Summary
The Nursing Supervisor coordinates the CCOC operations working in collaboration with the CCOC leadership. Coordinates work, monitors work performance of providers in assigned areas and is a resource for problem-solving in clinically complex situations. The incumbent has a collaborative relationship with unit managers and directors of the units served to facilitate operations in proven effective patient care. Nursing Supervisor is a 24/7 requirement, holidays/weekend.
Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities
Responsible for assuming on-site supervision for the continuum of care within nursing on evenings and night shifts, including resource allocation with the units, facilitation of patient flow, assurance of quality care, clinical and departmental problem solving and communication with the administrator on call when appropriate.
Coordinates patient throughput across the continuum encompassing all departments to provide efficient and effective quality patient care; Facilitates timely discharge of patients with declining medical status with admission to a facility with a higher level of care.
Responds to patient needs offering skills/experience etc.: EKG completion or in the event of difficult IV/lab draws, etc.; Maintains availability to assist staff during times of high volume/admissions/discharges.
Coordinates RRT and Code Blues in coordination with responding physician in handling patients needs and declining medical status. Responsible for planning, collaboration and problem solving with managers of other departments which service the units. Responsible for first line immediate resolution of patient complaints.
Assists management team with the facilitation of staff communication/meetings, especially on the off shift; Coordinates staffing throughout their shift and for oncoming shift; Functions in role of mentor to assist staff in further IT, staff development and survey readiness.
Supports quality patient care delivery in the clinical area based on law, practice standards, accrediting body standards, the philosophy, policies and procedures for the Patient Care and Surgical Services Departments.
Assures appropriate placement of patients that best meet their clinical needs and assures appropriate staffing and other resources are available to meet patient needs.
Assists Orthopaedic Management team in the professional and technical development of staff through mentoring, annual competencies, POCT testing, etc.

Position Requirements
Education: Graduate of a school of Nursing. B.S.N. preferred.
Experience: Three (3) to Five (5) years of demonstrated leadership and management experience preferred; three (3) to Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in field or profession required.
Technical Skills: N/A
Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio. BLS required. ACLS required within three (3) months of hire.
