General Description


The Superintendent is responsible for coordinating all day-to-day site construction activities and supervises all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. This position maintains the highest quality, supervising all trade and field personnel, while administering good construction safety practices with all on-site activities.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:



  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities.

  • Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.

  • Build & maintain construction schedule, identifies and solves problems.

  • Order materials and schedules inspections as necessary throughout construction.

  • Read & understand the project plans, & specifications.

  • Act as technical professional for the estimating team.

  • Lead the project team in planning and execution of project work plans and other project submittals and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other employees.

  • Promote job site safety, encourages safe work practices, and rectifies job site hazards immediately.

  • Ensure all company employees and contractors are adhering to the company safety policy.

  • Maintain an organized and clean job site, including the construction office.

  • Coordinate with designated Quality Control and Health and Safety representatives to ensure project standards and Bristol Alliance of Companies policies are met.

  • Minimize company exposure and project performance risks.

  • Supervise subcontractor and vendor procurement, material buyout and logistics coordination, preparation of subcontract scoping documents and consent packages, and subcontractor selection following applicable FAR and project requirements as needed.

  • Prepare field reports, quantity tracking, applications for payment, and other project reporting documents as needed.

  • Perform constructability reviews on project designs; works with design teams when applicable to find value engineering opportunities.

  • Collaborate with others to generate project schedules as required.

  • Extensive travel as needed, 90% of time to project sites.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Skilled in prioritizing organizing.

  • Skilled in written and oral communication and effective listening.

  • Ability to analyze problems and make sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risks, implications, and costs.

  • Skilled in interpersonal communication including the ability to work well with diverse personalities.

  • Skilled in maintaining and establishing relationships with Federal clients.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, to prioritize and organize, work well under stress in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change.

  • Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet deadlines.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Word, familiarity with commercial scheduling software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.

  • Ability to perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner.

  • Skilled supervising all aspects of construction projects for various types of clients and project delivery methods.

  • Knowledge of the estimating process.

  • Quality/Quantity of Work – 25%

  • Client Satisfaction – 15%


Required Qualification:



  • High school diploma or GED is required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience DoD Fuels projects.

  • Minimum of 5 years of recent experience as a Project Superintendent, Construction Manager, Project Engineer/Scientist, or Quality Control for construction and/or Fuels projects is required.

  • Associate or bachelor’s Degree may be required, dependent on project requirements.

  • OSHA 30 certification is required.

  • Experience with DoD Fuels projects, ranging from $500,000.00 to $10MM is required.

  • Valid driver’s license is required.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Certified Welding Inspector is preferred.

  • API 653 Tank Inspection, Repair, Alteration and Reconstruction is preferred.

  • API 570 Piping Inspection Code: In-service Inspection, Rating, Repair, and Alteration of Piping Systems is preferred.

  • API Tank Entry Supervisor is preferred.

  • API 1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector is preferred.

  • EM-385 within the last 5 years is preferred.

  • Position may be subject to atmospheric conditions – fumes, odors, dusts, mist, gases, or poor ventilation.

  • Position my require to frequently be in close quarters, Fuel Tanks, shafts, manholes, small-enclosed rooms, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia.

  • Position may be required to wear a respirator.


Physical Qualifications:

  • Mobility: Must be able to stoop, kneel, reach, walk, lift, grasp, feel, talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions.

  • Hearing: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.

  • Visual Acuity: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.

  • Lifting: Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
