Overview
The IT Security & Systems Administrator will manage and administer school-wide information security initiatives including endpoint security, cybersecurity, and infrastructure protection. This position will be responsible for immediately responding to security threats, coordinating security compliance efforts and audit responses, pushing out software patches, implementing threat mitigation controls, etc. Assess security incidents for proactive implementation of policies or procedures to mitigate repeated incidents as well as to develop, communicate, and educate the Tandon community on security policies, standards, and procedures. Collaborate with constituents within the School and the overall University to continually safeguard Tandon's shared computing environments.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Required Experience: 2+ years Experience with information security standards and best practices for endpoint management, computing architecture, and network infrastructure, distributed systems technologies, products, and services, supervision or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2+ years Proven experience as an IT Security or Systems Administrator or in a similar role, with expertise in Windows, Mac, and Linux environments.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong knowledge of information security standards and practices. Experience with risk & compliance auditing and assessments. Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, planning and problem solving skills. Ability to conduct presentations and clearly articulate technical advice to a non-technical audience. Highly self-motivated and directed. Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Vulnerability Scanning tools (e.g. Rapid7 InsightVM), System Administration tools (e.g. HCL BigFix, VMware Workspace One, Ansible Tower), Detect and Respond tools (e.g. Palo Alto Cortex XDR), Multiple scripting languages (e.g. Powershell, Bash, Python, etc.)
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $81,000.00 to USD $99,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
