ASRT, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients. The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of ASRT, Inc. and will be assigned to the Division of Core Laboratory Services and Response (DCLSR), National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic and Infectious Diseases (NCEZID), at the CDC, 1600 Clifton Road, Atlanta, GA.
SCOPE OF WORK
The Laboratory Technician I will provide support for non-research biological science work or support work in various scientific and public health areas associated with numerous biological agents.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage QC documentation and chemical inventory.
Print, approve and distribute waste labels
Coordinate pickups and incubation of required monthly biological indicators
Conduct Equipment management
Review monthly planned preventative maintenance (PPM) documents for equipment in RDSB.
Monitor cleaning and vendor preventive maintenance schedules,
Label equipment that is not in use and working with property management team to notify them if a piece of equipment is going to be excessed (removed from use). Qualify new equipment prior to use.
Conduct pipette and balance calibrations at scheduled intervals.
Inventory management - Manage the receipt of chemicals, consumables, and supplies. Accepts raw materials, seek CoA and SDS (when applicable), labels and enters inventory
Track expired inventory materials
Process autoclave admin waste labels
Identify and documentation of non-conforming events.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, chemistry, basic medical science, or environmental laboratory science, or
2-5 years of equivalent experience
Required:
Experience working with and adapting/modifying SOPs
Experience working with inventory management and material shipping.
Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for the preparation of memos and reports.
Experience working with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Desirable:
Previous experience working in a similar role.
Experience modifying methods based upon evaluation of research results.
Knowledge of documentation for equipment calibration and validation.
Knowledge of quality systems and inventory software functions.
Language Skills:
The candidate must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
