Description

Resource Management Concepts, Inc. (RMC) is seeking a talented Fabrication Specialist to support our Navy customer in Indian Head, MD. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assessing and determining project costs, enabling effective decision-making for multiple comprehensive modernization initiatives. This role requires a detail-oriented professional capable of analyzing various factors influencing multiple project executions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform project milestone planning and tracking, evaluation of modernization project schedules, and final product tracking, delivery, and installation if applicable
  • Work with technical independence to produce and develop projects that include elements such as structurally and architecturally accurate casework, displays, components, artifact mounts, graphics, lighting, and other elements designed to enhance the modernization efforts of the command
  • Interpret and analyze design specifications and details; Must have the ability to develop and recommend fabrication methods or structural modifications that are appropriate for projects
  • Perform cost estimations and manage the procurement of the necessary tools, raw materials, and support services needed
  • Utilize CAD or related software to interpret and analyze design specifications and details; develop and recommend fabrication methods or structural modifications that are appropriate for projects
  • Create digital images and text for graphic panels, posters, signs, labels, decals, and other visual media ranging in size from several inches to room-size murals using large format roll-to-roll printers, vinyl cutters, and laminating machines
  • Manipulate graphic design software (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Corel) to create production files for printing graphics
  • Recommend, select, and use appropriate raw materials, bonding, and attachment techniques, cutting and machining devices, and finishing systems that will be most appropriate for each task
  • Perform assessments and conduct final installations of various projects; monitor quality and integrity of installations; remediate quality/integrity issues; perform refurbishment as needed
  • Generate Plans of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) and related tasking for refurbishment of existing exhibits/structures/displays; respond to refurbishment and maintenance requests received through the chosen maintenance database reporting system

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or other fields of study related to the position; or 3 years of related general experience in various disciplines: design and construction of exhibits, posters, photographic displays, signs, or displays of art or technical equipment; preparation or mounting of photography and illustrations; wood carving, sculpting, illustrating, interior or industrial design; or the use of tools and techniques related to carpentry, plastics, sheet metal, electrical or electronics work, machining, painting, molding, or in making machines, apparatus, and instruments
  • Skilled in woodworking and metalworking techniques, finishing techniques, methods, and materials to fabricate, finish, install, and maintain high-quality components and structures that are used throughout the command
  • Ability to safely use and maintain various types of equipment
  • Knowledge of the basic principles of fine arts, design, project management, or related fields to understand design and subject matter concepts that the customer's modernization projects intend to convey.
  • An active DoD SECRET clearance is required. The applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Salary at RMC is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, a candidate's specific combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific requirements. The current salary range for this position will be $90,000 to $110,000 (annually).
